Joiner moved to #171.

#7 RB, 91 rating
#5 in AL

He must have gone to some camps or something. Again, just looking at his film, there aren't many highlights. His line is awful.

I'll be able to go watch him this season at the old stomping grounds. Don't expect the team to be amazing this year, but we'll see. Mtn. Brook never really has a ton of size on the OL. Vlachos and Tyler Love are outliers.

The Closer: Auburn DL coach Rodney Garner’s long track record of strong finishes in recruiting (SECCountry)
quote:

During his time as an assistant at Georgia and Auburn — where the former Tiger arrived in 2013 as a cornerstone of Malzahn’s first staff — Garner has developed a rock-solid reputation as a strong closer.

According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, 10 different Garner recruits rated as consensus 5- or 4-stars decided to commit to his school on National Signing Day:

- 5-star DT Derrick Brown (2016): No. 9 overall recruit
- 5-star DT Montravius Adams (2013): No. 10 overall recruit, second-team All-American, first-team All-SEC
- 4-star DE Elijah Daniel (2013): No. 49 overall recruit
- 4-star RB Knowshon Moreno (2006): No. 58 overall recruit, 2007 SEC Freshman of the Year, second-team All-American, 2-time first-team All-SEC, No. 12 overall pick in 2009 NFL Draft
- 4-star S Reshad Jones (2006): No. 66 overall recruit, second-team All-American, 2-time second-team All-SEC, 2015 Pro Bowler
- 4-star DL/OL Prince Tega Wanogho (2015): No. 110 overall recruit
- 4-star OLB Jeff Holland (2015): No. 116 overall recruit
- 4-star DE Big Cat Bryant (2017): No. 181 overall recruit
- 4-star DT Mike Thornton (2010): No. 190 overall recruit
- 4-star DE Andrew Williams (2014): No. 231 overall recruit

Garner’s long list of late-cycle commitments also includes 3-star defensive tackle Alec Jackson, who pledged to the Tigers on Christmas Day. In 2016, No. 49 overall recruit Antwuan Jackson Jr. committed to Auburn in December. In 2014, current Auburn starter Dontavius Russell did the same.

Alec Jackson will join Bryant and Truesdell at Auburn after late commitments to Garner and the Tigers.

“All three of these young men are Auburn kind of men,” Garner said on National Signing Day during Auburn’s in-house broadcast. “They’re excited to play for Auburn. They’ve got tremendous skill sets, and they’re going to come in here hungry. They will do what it takes to be great football players.”

When Garner recruits commit to Auburn, they usually mention the veteran defensive line coach as a key reason in their decision.

So what GA DL that appears a lock to UGA right now do we still late this cycle? I am going with 4* DE Brenton Cox

Hopefully Rocker leaving will give us an in. He looks pretty heavily favored to UGA as of now.

As far as I'm concerned, Joiner not being run into the ground by his HS coach is a win for us. Ability is there. I don't mind if his legs stay fresh behind a line he can't succeed with.

I can walk to Mnt Brook High School from my house. During the season, I can actually see the stadium lights and hear the PA announcer. Looks like I'll be going to a bunch of their games this year.

The McMansions are across the interstate from me in Liberty Park.

One of Joiner's football friends is getting recruited by Ole Miss. I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't get a visit.

He'll still be able to do fine. Mtn. Brook really only runs into trouble playing the Hoovers and what not where they just don't have the athletes to keep up. They use him at WR a lot too, which he may end up playing in college anyways. Their offense will get him the ball in space, that is one thing Coach Yeager knows how to do.

What's Auburn's plan for 3-star defensive tackle signee Tyrone Truesdell? (AL.com)
quote:

After losing three interior linemen to graduation in Montravious Adams, Maurice Swain and Devaroe Lawrence, Auburn had a need to add more depth to the position down the road. The Tigers believe they got some of that in Truesdell, who developed the reputation as a run-stuffer during his high school career.

Truesdell, who was rated as the No. 37 defensive tackle in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, finished his senior season at Lucy Laney with 39 total tackles, including seven for a loss and 2.5 sacks.

"(He's a) big, stout nose guard, three-technique type," Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner said during an appearance on the Tigers' in-house National Signing Day broadcast.

Garner believes Truesdell can be more than just that at Auburn, however. The Tigers' defensive line coach, who is entering his fifth year on staff with Malzahn, believes Truesdell's athleticism could make him a more versatile interior lineman down the road.

Garner noted that before Truesdell's senior season, the defensive tackle performed well at various camps and combines, even running the 40-yard dash in the 4.8-second range. That, Garner noted, was when Truesdell was about 20-25 pounds lighter, weighing in at about 310-315 pounds.

It's also where Garner would like to get him back to once he arrives on campus this summer and gets on strength and conditioning coach Ryan Russell's program.

"We're going to shake it back down, trim him down to about 300-310, but he's a kid that's a big, powerful, explosive, quick-twitch guy that should be able to hold the point in this league," Garner said. "And then he has the athleticism that he may even get some value on third-down situations because he does have some skillset."

As I said in the 2017 thread, I'd love to keep Truesdell in the 310-315 range. Have another true NT type.
