According to KN AU, UGA & VT stand out for 3* ATH Marquez Ezzard. He visited for the Arkansas game and had a good time. Being recruited as a WR and likes the fact that Jarrett Stidham is now on roster and we have Gatewood committed
Man I hope Stidham does well this season because I think a lot of these 2018 WRs would be willing to jump on board if that's the case

Scott Fountain’s departure requires strong recruiting replacement for Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:
Other commitments since 2013 hire
Fountain has been a primary recruiter for more prospects than you might think since arriving on staff. He does more than chase tight ends, though he has done that over the last few years despite the lack of on-field results. Fountain also has helped recruit multiple special teams standouts. But what’s perhaps most telling is Fountain’s ability to establish consistency at positions that aren’t his own.
He’s not irreplaceable, but Auburn is losing a very capable recruiter.
Here are some of the guys courted by Fountain in the last couple years.
- Richard McBryde
- Woody Barrett
- Landon Rice*
- Jason Smith*
- Chandler Cox
- Jakell Mitchell*
- Daquan Newkirk
- Jalen Harris
- Tashawn Manning
- Daniel Carlson
- Xavier Dampeer
—Names with (*) show Fountain’s role as secondary recruiter, not primary

Signees react to Auburn's latest coaching move (AL.com)
quote:
Auburn saw its third coaching move of the offseason on Tuesday as sources told AL.com special teams and tight ends coach Scott Fountain will not return to his post in 2017.
Whether Fountain remains on the Plains in an off-the-field capacity remains to be seen. Regardless, he ranked 23rd on Auburn's staff in the 247Sports recruiter rankings and played a big role in helping Auburn land its fifth consecutive top 10 recruiting class last week.
Two of the recruits he helped reel in -- tight end John Samuel Shenker and long-snapper Bill Taylor, shared their reactions to the news Wednesday.
"We had a good relationship," said Shenker, who joined Auburn's 2017 class after receiving an offer from the Tigers last month. "He is a great coach and it would have been an honor to play for him. College football coaches come and go, but he was a good one."

Surmising the Sunshine State: Early predictions for Florida's best (Rivals)
FWIW I think we have an ok shot early especially if we can get him back on campus again this spring/summer but Miami is going to be hard to beat
At one point in time we were a solid #2 for him but not sure if that still the case with McGriff leaving
quote:
5* Lorenzo Lingard
Outlook: Lingard will battle Florida State commit James Cook for the title of top running back in South Florida all year and it seems as though Florida, Miami and Alabama will battle it out for Lingard’s commitment simultaneously. Florida could make a strong move to land Lingard with an impressive 2007 season, but, as of now, it’s hard to ignore Miami, which seems like the favorite. Things could certainly change as visits take place and the upcoming college season takes shape, but the smart money is on the Hurricanes as things stand.
Way-too-early prediction: Miami

quote:
4* CB Al Blades Jr
Outlook: Once a Miami commit, Blades parted ways with the Hurricanes during the program’s coaching change. Since then, he’s seen his offer list explode. He’s flirted with the idea of Florida State and will likely visit a handful of colleges this offseason. That said, no matter how far his eyes wander, it’s almost impossible to see him signing with any program but Miami. Blades will likely make things interesting with a handful of official visits and a few carefully planned quotes, but he’s likely to stay put in South Florida when the times comes for him to sign a letter of intent.

In-state defensive lineman Andres Fox’s offer from Alabama sparks recruiting battle with Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:
Iron Bowl battle for in-state DL
When Andres Fox left Auburn’s Junior Day, the Tigers sat in prime position.
The 6-foot-5, 231-pound weak-side defensive end was on campus for the third time. He attended the Auburn-Clemson and Auburn-LSU games in Jordan-Hare Stadium. He played on the same field for his own state championship appearance with Mobile Christian (Ala.).
Immediately after that game in December, Fox received a scholarship offer from Auburn to add to his list of Penn State, Mississippi State, Arizona, Troy, Southern Miss, UAB and others. Understandably, Auburn jumped to the top of that group.
“I was excited to get that offer after the state championship game,” Fox said at Auburn’s Junior Day. “I love the atmosphere and the coaches. Coach (Rodney) Garner, I like him. He’s a great coach.”
On Wednesday, well, let’s just say this: Things changed.
Like many in-state prospects, Fox grew up rooting for Alabama, not Auburn. Once the recruiting process hits, some of those emotions change when a program like the Crimson Tide aren’t able to offer everyone. He even acknowledged at Auburn’s Junior Day that the Alabama offer was the one he didn’t have that he really wanted.
He got his wish Wednesday when defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt extended an offer to the lanky edge rusher. Fox spoke with SEC Country’s Alabama recruiting reporter Chris Kirschner, and Fox’s comments should probably pump the brakes slightly on my way-too-early prediction from earlier in the week, which included Fox in Auburn’s 2018 class.
“It’s the best day of my life,” Fox told Kirschner. “It’s been a dream of mine, just watching them growing up, and now I have a chance to play for them.”

Also just became a borderline 5* too I am sure
Instate DL recruiting will be interesting this year. Coynis Miller, Andres Fox, Alfred Thomas and Timaje Porter are all guys not rated very high but are getting plenty of attention. Of those I want Miller and Thomas the most but we will see what happens

Best day of his life.... I guess when you're 16 there's not a ton of stuff to pull from, but jeez

I mean, at 16, I would have thought the same thing. College of your dreams offering a full ride to play a sport you love is a pretty big deal.
He hasn't graduated high school, college, gotten married, had kids, so his bar is pretty low.
Hell, up until around 18, meeting Michael Jordan at around age 5 was the best day of my life. ??

With recruits that grow up Auburn fans, it always ends up being a "business decision". We always seem to do better with Florida or Georgia kids IMO.

Well UGA/UF aren't winning at a historic pace and pumping out NFL RD1 draft picks even close to Bama's pace
This was always weird pre Saban when Bama was down, but it is completely reasonable right now
EDIT: It isn't just Auburn fans, Bama regularly jacks the top talent from GA/LA and other places too

Rankings seem to be an aggregate of evaluations, coaches opinions, etc. Does anyone else notice the guy's we are after aren't ranked in the top?
