Not a ton of recruiting news out there for this morning. I have to think AU will start hosting some visitors pretty soon. If guys have visited recently none have been reported

So Porter knows the Louisiana, Memphis, and the southern Florida recruiting trails pretty well?
What prospects was he recruiting at UNC?

Any uncommitted prospect Twitter reactions to the hire?

KN has VIP article on 3* RB Tae Provens. We have been recruiting him since he was a freshman and sounds like he is really close with Tim Horton and some with Gus. He has no official leaders but claims we will be in it "till the end" and he wants to commit before his senior season. Will also visit LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss. It sounds like he really likes AU

Unsure if we will take 3 RBs in Joiner, Provens and Shivers. I wouldn't be shocked if we did and say we are recruiting Joiner or Provens as an "athlete" but we will see

Also article on now 4* ATH Nathaniel Watson.. He named us leader in July and sounds like that is still the case. Recruiting him for defense where he could play either S or LB. Ole Miss and Alabama are also after him but both are recruiting him as a WR. Apparently he enjoys playing offense more but he claims doesn't matter what side of the ball he plays in college. Watson is an AU legacy being the great nephew of Tommie Agee and cousin of Harold Morrow. Plans on coming to a spring practice

Rivals Recap: Linemen state their cases at Elite Big Man Camp (Rivals)

Not sure if we are recruiting any of these guys but always interesting to see who does well at these things. Usually means they skyrocket in the rankings

If recruiting reforms happen, who benefits? (ESPN)
Interesting discussion about how rule changes will affect teams

Our 2017 QB recruit Malik Willis (that has been compared to NM) does seem to have an arm and the accuracy on these pretty difficult throws.

I am curious about Wilis. He's one I'm glad we took a shot on. Lot of upside there, we'll see how he develops.

4-star TE visiting Auburn (247)

quote:

New tight ends/h-backs coach Larry Porter, hired by Auburn over the weekend, has wasted no time getting started.

In fact, he already has a major target on campus Monday.

Four-star recruit Tyneil Hopper, a tight end/jumbo athlete from Roswell (Ga.), arrived at Auburn for an unofficial visit early Monday afternoon.

He's the No. 12 tight end nationally in the 247Sports Composite.

The Tigers offered the 6-feet-2.5, 225-pound Hooper on Jan. 27. North Carolina leads in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. That is Porter's previous employer.

AU offers 4* RB Asa Martin (247)

Genuinely curious about the pecking order for instate RBs. Personally mine would be

Joiner
Provens
Martin

No way we would take all 3 with Shivers on board. Will be interesting to see how plays out

Elite Georgia Showcase Top Performers (247)
quote:

ALPHA DOG

RB Nuru Tinch of Covington (Ga.) Newton: Newton has become a regular stop for college coaches and that should continue. Tinch’s stock is on the rise and his camp performance should only help. The 5-feet-11, 202-pound 2018 recruit was the overall MVP Sunday after a strong showing in position drills and one-on-ones. He claims offers from UAB and Ball State. He’ll visit Auburn on March 4.

quote:

EYE-CATCHERS

-RB La'damian Webb of Opelika (Ala.) Beauregard: Webb is collecting Power 5 offers (Missouri was his most recent) and it’s easy to see why. At 5-feet-9, 190 pounds, Webb isn’t a burner but he has quick feet, a low center of gravity, strong one-cut ability and excellent spin moves, which helped him elude defenders all day. He rushed for 3,235 yards last season.

quote:

-OG Tank Jenkins of Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing: The 6-feet-2.5, 325-pound Jenkins had good moments and not-so-good moments in one-on-ones, but we like the upside. He’s used to playing tackle and lined up at guard — where he’s likely to play in college — Sunday. That will take some getting used to, but one can’t deny the raw ability. Also, he has really reshaped his body in a good way the past six months.

quote:

-WR/S Cam Taylor of Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing): Taylor camped at receiver and at times showed flashes. But don’t be surprised if he ends up being recruited more at safety. At 6-feet, 196 pounds, he has a stout power base with a compact build and strong closing speed. He has early Power 5 offers, notably Michigan and

quote:

-ATH Nathaniel Watson of Maplesville (Ala.): Although he didn’t take many reps in one-on-ones, Watson arguably was the most physically impressive prospect on hand. He’s every bit of 6-feet-3, 200 pounds and carries no bad weight. He could play receiver, linebacker or safety in college.

Former teammate of Willis too. Can't hurt. Feel like if we pushed hard we'll get this kid.

KN has a VIP article up on Martin with more info. Sounds like Chip Lindsey is the guy that pushed for the offer to be made. Martin said we are looking for guys that can catch ball out of backfield as Lindsey plans to do that more. He plans to be an early enrollee but won't announce till after senior season most likely

I thought the pass catching bit was interesting. Would love to see KJ get some looks in passing game next season

Will be interesting. Pretty sure I read he has a brother at UNC so could be tough to beat. However having Willis and Porter I think will help alot. Maybe if we use the TE a bit more that can help seal the deal. I really like that kid's skillset

I'd post in the 2017 thread but it seems the notifications were muted or something, your highness. The gif wasn't worth its own thread either.

The most exciting part of that GIF is that we have an enrolled QB working with a QB coach

4* DB Derrik Allen just committed to Notre Dame. I think our chances went out the door with McGriff but kind of surprised he committed so early. UGA & Clemson were thought to be the other main contenders

Hopefully Gatewood has a personal QB coach to speed up his development. His HS coach swapping JG out and moving him around is doing Auburn no favors.
