I just hope he isn't going to all of our games getting the royal treatment just because it's more convenient for him than making it up to T-town.
I trust Gus to be able to tell if thats what he is doing. He sent Liner packing so I don't expect anything less to a lesser recruit. But as long as he isn't taking a spot from a really interested kid, talking down Auburn, or recruiting for Bama then it doesn't really hurt anything. Auburn may even grow on him if anything or Saban might send him packing for staying in Auburn all the time.

@El_GoldenChild: You think malzahn gonna turn auburn around? — turn em around? already has

Like hearing this from Roc.

Translation for those that are Twitter illiterate:
Unknown person asks "You think Malzhan is going to turn Auburn around?"

Roc says "Turn them around? He already has."

I like that as well.

And it will become more apparent in the weeks ahead as well.

I don't follow recruiting like a lot of you but I've literally heard nothing from him. No post visit interviews or comments and he's been at 4 of our 5 games.
His actions are speaking louder than his words. A couple of months ago he said he was done with visits. He has been to Auburn at least 5 times since then, including all 4 home games. Also 2 weeks ago he said he was going to every Bama home game this year. Yes I know they had a crap game yesterday but him not going after saying what he did still means something. FWIW Bama fans and recruiting reporters are not expecting Bama to keep him at this point.

That's a little surprising. Guess that guarantees that Burton has a spot if he wants it though.

As expected. Burton will probably round out our WR class sooner or later. Any word on when he will visit since he couldn't come this weekend?

No word yet on Burton...On Jackson this is just my guess but this one is not over IMO. If Miss St finishes something like 4-8 causing Mullen to be let go then there could be an opening here. Plus AUC said both Burton and Jackson are takes.

Quotes from Tre per AUR LINK
quote:

My visits are going to be USC, Miami, Florida, Ole Miss and Auburn,

Of course, I have to visit home," (Auburn) he said. "I want the full, inside view of recruiting. Staying in a hotel, getting closer to the players and coaches, and really get to know the people around Auburn more. That's what I'd be doing.

My final decision was between Auburn and Ole Miss. I talked to coach (Hugh) Freeze, he seemed like a great guy and I wanted to visit there, I just didn't have the time to go there. I can get to know them a little better,

I want to meet Coach Muschamp for the first time," said Williams. "They're recruiting me the hardest and I want to see if what they're talking about is real. I can meet more of the coaches, one of their coaches came to watch me earlier this season and complimented my play.

I have to visit the 'U'," he said. "I've always liked them and their tradition. I've always loved Miami. I can't really see myself there because it's far from home, but I have to go see Miami.

I've always wanted to visit California," Williams said. "I'm pretty sure they know I won't go that far from home, but they want me to take that chance and see what they have to offer and visit the school and coaches. I want to visit their campus and see how it is. I've never been close to California and they will be a great experience.

We made a checklist of different things," said Williams. "We said I'm committed to Auburn, I'm going to Auburn, that's number one. Then we said who's recruiting me the hardest. Alabama was up there, but they've fallen off. I have Florida, Ole Miss and others coming hard and I wanted to see them. I started listening to what they all had to say and these are great schools, maybe I should look into them.

I told Coach Craig I was taking some visits, he said that's fine,

I know Deshaun (Davis) and I are trying to go on some visits together. Josh (Casher) and I may go to Ole Miss and Florida together, and Auburn of course,

I'm just having fun, that's all. Just having fun,

Coach (Gus) Malzahn and I have spoken before and I told him, I'm going to Auburn, he doesn't have to worry about that. I don't want to miss out on the recruiting process. People get to go all across the world and I've never really been anywhere. But I know in my heart where I want to be. Once Coach Malzahn heard that, he wasn't worried.
Also Tre is plans to get all the AU commits to take their OVs to Auburn at the same time. All of Tre's OVs will be after the season ends.

I could care less about that. I think it is awesome he is trying to get all their OV's on the same weekend

No its not. Most predicted him to commit to State...it's not over though...State has possibly 4-5 losses on their schedule. AU won't stop recruiting him.

Doing that was part of Ole Miss' strategy and was a huge reason they succeeded according to a SI article

LINK

quote:

Freeze told his assistants that if they could get any of these players interested, they needed to be locked into an official visit on the weekend of Jan. 25, 2013. The only way to make this work, Freeze surmised, was to get the elite recruits together on the campus where they redshirt Miss Americas and make the grand pitch to the group. That way, one or two true believers might help the skeptical ones overcome any lingering doubts. The plan thrilled the coaches, who considered it a challenge.

Anyone know the real story why we didn't take Marcus RObenson a couple years back and let him end up at Florida?

I want to know which is why I am asking. He is tearing it up for FLorida and >Whitehead who we ended up swapping him out for

I heard it was some type of character issues but I don't know much about it. I just remember he committed to us then dropped us later in the week or something because the coaches cooled on him

He was committed to AU at one point, right? I think the coaches told him not to visit anywhere because he had already flipped from Texas Tech to Auburn and we were having problems with guys flipping so they wanted Roberson to appear solid. He visited Florida and Chizik and co pulled his offer.

He was caught with Mary Jane possession on his Florida OV with a Florida DB on the team at the time. I don't remember which one. The staff dropped him after that.

I don't remember him ever being committed to Texas Tech.
