I honestly wonder how this game plays out if we don't crucify ourselves with like 30 yards of penalties in consecutive drives.

Dumbass, how many pass plays were called when a pass wasn't thrown?

The crux of it is this:
The RPO trickery offense was designed for teams with lesser talent to help close the talent gap.
Many many times, we don't need it. Sometimes when your guys are better athletes at every position, it's better to play inside of a phonebooth.

With that said, I like that we've adopted the new offense, but in a game like today, it would've been better to just run it down their damn throats and physically dominate

Is that like a koan?

I'll have to meditate on that one.

edit: Who am I joking. That yahoo doesn't know what a koan is.

Kiffin was bad tonight. I'm not saying he's a bad OC, but he was terrible tonight.

This thread has no purpose but to rile people up. You throw out this stupid 14 pass play bs when it is obviously false. Everyone from corndogs and aubs on the SECr to the washington fans sitting beside me at the bar were perplexed to why Bama stopped running the ball but apparently you and Kiffin know something the rest of us don't

No, fellow. The game thread was all about how bad and stupid was Kiffin. Blamed him alone for the lack of offensive production. Then, there was another thread specifically blaming Kiffin.

My opinion, and as far as I know, individual opinions are acceptable on this board, so my opinion is that Hurts lack of a consistent passing game is way more responsible for our poor offensive production than is Kiffin.

It's really that simple. Get it, or not. Probably not.

Every member of the offensive personnel from Kiffin on down to the scout team deserves blame for today's shite show. Except Bo. We play like that against either opponent next week and we'll get our arse kicked.

Let's forget what Kiffin has done the past 3 years. He did a great job, set records, all that stuff. Thank you for your service.

My issue with Kiffin is tonight's game plan and playcalling. The offense was a cluster frick from the first possession all the way to the bitter end. And with 4 weeks to plan and prepare. Problem is, it looks like those 4 weeks were spent planning and preparing for FAU, not for Alabama vs Washington.

Now I have no evidence to prove that was the case other than that was the worst prepared offense I have seen since 2007 at Alabama. And the fact that he's bitching about how miserable his time has been at Bama.

If Bo doesn't get his touches we probably lose this game. Take away his 175 and 2 TDs, and we have less than 100 yards of offense. The passing game plan was pathetic. Ridley, zero touches, Ardarius 2 touches, both handoffs. OJ had a couple of catches and a couple of more targets but wasn't a factor. Those are our playmakers and they were left out of the offense. Real smart.

You've got a QB struggling to complete passes but instead of getting back to simple screens, wheels, and short stuff, to get his confidence and a rhythm going, no, you keep everything intermediate to long and further erode his confidence.

I'm tired of his stubborn refusal to run the ball even when it is devastatingly effective. You mentioned he ran it 40 times tonight but our QB had more carries than any of our RBs. And the fact that we only ran about 60 plays on offense speaks to just how ineffective our offensive plan was tonight. Washington is good and I tip my hat to them but all due respect, they don't have the athletes to shut us down that completely. I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again: Smart was honorable and finished the job. Kiffin either can't or won't.

I tend to agree with that, but the defense is so darn good, we might can actually pull this off. It would be nice, though, if they got some help.

What he is responsible for QB development and offensive game plan. Hurts has regressed as a passer that's in Kiffin.

Hurts really isn't all that bad. He's just not yet all that good. He'll be better next year. Either that, or the new kid might be playing.

I actually agree with the thread title, but for a different reason.

At this point in the season, Saban should get the bulk of the blame for a lack of offensive production. But God forbid that Saban be criticized.

Saban sits in meetings. Saban is involved in the gameplan. Saban is miked up with Kiffin and the coaches in the booth. If we should be running the ball down their throats with Bo, then by god, Saban can tell Kiffin to do just that.

Nick Saban is the head coach of this team, but few fans want to hold him responsible for the poor offensive output. Kiffin is an easier target.

Hurts did not carry more than the backs. Bo had 19 runs just for himself. And it was 50 runs not 40. So what you want is to completely abandon the pass making our 5 star receivers nothing but blocking dummies. Maybe hire Paul Johnson? Even Gus has to pass the ball some. Some of you are amazing.

We just put up 300 yards rushing on ~40 designed runs against a top ten defense and people are bitching like we lost the game.
