Yeah I think that's the most accurate way to put it.

How did Browning look with defensive players in his face all night? You guys act like the other team isnt out there putting up a fight. All week we heard about how Ross and Pettis were NFL Wideouts and how Browning was the best QB we will have seen (including Chad Kelly).

Also, Washington's defense was legit. Bo was a beast but he aint a 30 carry guy. You have to pick your spots with him to keep him fresh and available. Penalties were ugly tonight part of it was a biased crew but there us absolutley lots of room for improvement on offense but enjoy the ride. 14 - 0 given all the warts (on offense). Cant ask for much more, imo.

Unless Hurt's passing improves massively next year... I can see Tua licking his chops to get into QB camp this summer.

agreed, there were many opps to hit open receivers tonight, Wondering if Hurts had been warned bout the All American DB's on the Udub side and he was afraid to attempt a pass? I mean 57 yards... whoa...

UW's defense is comparable to Clemson's D. Washington has a better rush defense though.

Clemson's offense has potential to be the best offense in the nation. It hasn't happened statistically but Watson, Gallman, Williams, Leggett, Renfrow, Cain is a legit stable of skill players.

That silliness aside, Hurts is probably our best running back. He's just playing the qb position.

Seems legit.

Look, Hurts is poor at the read option. He just is. He's a solid, but not spectacular runner. His passing game has regressed as the season wore on. Lane simply will not stick with the power run game. The soft, shotgun read option game has Lane transfixed and he refuses to take the ball out of his least experienced player's hands.

I do not call eight fumbles on the year, "solid".

Yeah we only threw the ball 14 times, but the stat that proved the overwhelming stupidity in playcalling was that Jalen had more rushing attempts than Bo Scarborough.
After the first quarter, every single playcall that wasn't Bo running downhill was a bad playcall in my opinion - and i mean that literally..

This! So this! And as the poster ahead of your post asked how many pass plays were called where no pass was thrown? I'm gonna say at least 7. So your post and the other gives some much needed context to the whole "we ran it 50 and only threw it 14."

If you're QB is struggling running and throwing and your best TB is gashing the defense and they can't stop it, then why the hell do you keep calling passes and QB option reads where Hurts keeps it 99% of the time.

If Hurts would hand it off more on the read option, it woukd be a lot more effective both when he hands it off and when he keeps it. But because he fumbked the first time he did that against USC and another time against Ole Miss or someone, Hurts is terrified to give the ball to the back. Hurts needs to improve his decision making immensely.

Still with all the shortcomings of Hurts, continually asking him to make plays when he's struggling, you're not losing, and your RB is gashing the D is just piss poor playcalling.

Your dig at the OP may be appropriate, but I contended that it was ridiculous to blame Kiffin if Saban allows it, because he's the head coach. And today, Saban took responsibility. Good for him.

I wasn't digging at you or even contending that Kiffin is a bad OC. OP was being completely ridiculous though

Yeah, I know.

What I think one of the greatest things about today is, is that Saban set the ultimate example in personal accountability. How many times has he preached accountability to his players in the last ten years? Today we saw him step up and say, "I'm the one who's accountable. I'm responsible for every facet of this program. The buck stops with me". There was a problem that needed to be fixed, and he fixed it, and gave absolutely zero fricks about how it might look, what talking heads in the media might think, or whatever.

I guess Kiffin was at least partially to blame, at least in Nick Saban's "ridiculous" mind.

The entire post. It's still valid....

Kiffin has been here 3 years, helped us win the SEC every year, and in the playoffs every year, with one title already, in offensive record breaking fashion. He did this with 3 new starting qbs; one a career utility player, one a career backup, and one a true freshman that can't throw the ball.

If not for Kiffin working around the fact that Hurts can't pass, we wouldn't even have been in this game

Really?

The numerous jet sweeps and screens being one way . It gets our very talented wide receivers involved at least to a little degree, because we don't do very well connecting with them on the intermediate to long passes.

edit: What's the point, anyway, of beating the dead horse, other than some folks just wanting to argue. Kiffin is gone and now Sarkisian is the O.C., and I think he'll do a good job. I have said that already too. It's in the posting history.

You were being ridiculous blaming the lack of offense on Hurts. Kiffin called a shitty game and with the report I wouldn't be surprised if he were intentionally dragging the offense down

I guess this guy just disagrees with you, and I agree with him.

Why Lane Kiffin played it safe, Jalen Hurts struggled against Washington.... LINK

Saban agreed with me but apparently some rube who writes for AL.com knows best.

Hurts did struggle but his struggles were doubled down on by the OC just canned before the NCG. Dude give up your post was stupid as hell

You are smoking crack if you think that Tua has any chance to start over hurts barring a Hurts injury.
