Michigan would be insane to agree to that.

Another team will rise up. They always do. Maybe Wisconsin and Luke Fickell.

Surely this wouldn't apply if he got hit with a show cause. I mean what are they going to do? Reassign him to a different university department and make him the highest paid janitor on the planet?

Unless these kids had interest in Alabama before committing to UM or DeBoer has relationships with them I doubt no matter what happens at UM will give us an advantage regarding the roster.

Ohio States add drop date was the 19th. Downs officially transferred on that date, if not the day before

The President did nothing for Downs

True. UGA extended theirs, as I think theirs was the 12th, but it was for naught, as I don't think they landed anyone after that point.

Please let Kelly to Michigan happen.

Would love the melt… but I just don’t see this happening. They just won a National Championship… they’ll ride that for awhile and hire within…”to keep recruits”…

The contract between Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers is mostly agreed to in principle when it comes to his salary. Other smaller issues are on the agenda as the coach and the team are meeting Tuesday in hopes of formally agreeing to fill the team’s vacant head coach job, NFL sources have told OutKick.

It’s still premature to say a deal is completely done until everything is signed.

But the money part? Agreed.

Harbaugh and the Chargers were meeting Tuesday to hash out other details relative to the club’s personnel department, in the hiring of a general manager, the assistant coaching staff, and myriad other issues.

Sorry for the Outkick link.

By that logic why wouldn’t you hire the best possible coach for the long term? If you’ve got good will that’s how you use it, you don’t waste it on an inside hire that sets the program back.

Guess it would put the onus on them. When he leaves he can say they did t have faith in him.

If they hire Freeze the barn will hire Grubb.

If you think Grubb would frick CKD like that, you have zero understanding of the relationship between those two guys.

It is interesting because historically minority head coaches have often been the culture glue guy and recruiting wizard but not the tacticians and teachers. You'll usually hide that type of guy away at a lower risk position like RB or TEs.

So you end up promoting a guy to HC as a minority head coach primarily to keep the culture and recruiting relationship but you absolutely frick them over if they did not develop good contacts and knowledge for how to manage a team.

This was my thought as well. This is one of the top jobs in college football. Moore is 37 years old and has zero head coach experience. If he's not ready yet, it could absolutely negatively impact the trajectory of his career.

Breaking: Jim Harbaugh is leaving Michigan to accept the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers, sources tell ESPN.

The Chargers get their man while the national champions now have a head-coach opening.

Michigan loses nearly their entire starting roster. They also have perhaps the most difficult schedule in the Big Ten, with USC, Texas, @Washington, Oregon, @Ohio State, as well as trap games. They are a 7-5 squad next year regardless of who takes over so it might not be the worst time for them to get someone completely new instead of going the same "let's preserve the roster" route. They aren't winning anything next year.

Morgan our new GM does have some relationships with Michigan. Maybe he does bring a few players.
