He openly went after Gregg Marshall. He flew up there and it was a big spectacle. I'm glad this one has been much quieter.

i dont think BB openly did anything but the media was all over his every move. Basketball is more high profile and people were following it closely. No one in the media gives a rats hiney about the baseball, thus you dont have the scrutiny. But I do see your point to some degree. I am sure there was a lot of back channell stuff going on with the basketball hire and he was convinced he would come but alas it backfired.

Any word or rumor when this deal will get done? With Texas, you have to think their next call has to be to TCU, UVa, Vandy...someone of that caliber.

Starting to worry that Texas whiffed on their primary targets and Pierce is their next choice. More money for baseball there. And the talen pool is top notch. Not to metion a better history. Plus they're desperate with Texas Tech, TCU, and Texas A&M having better programs currently.

Sources tell SportsNOLA.com that Pierce and Heefner are also among the hot names at Alabama, along with South Alabama coach Mark Calvi and East Carolina coach Cliff Godwin, a former LSU assistant. Godwin has ECU one win away from the College World Series after a Game 1 super regional victory at Texas Tech Friday night, while Calvi – like Pierce and Heefner – guided the Jaguars to a share of the Sun Belt regular-season title and an NCAA regional final.

Heefner is the head coach at Dallas Baptist. I'd be fine with any of those guys listed. Heefner and Pierce are my personal favorites though.

The only drawback I can find on him is that he's only been a head coach for 2 years. However he does have SEC experience which is a major plus

What is your definition of a "proven coach?"
Honestly just asking.
I mean would David Pierce for example really qualify?
Personally, I need to see more than 2-4 years at one school before really forming an opinion of "proven."

And again, I must state, the following coaches had no prior HC exp before taking their current job:

Tim Corbin, Vandy
Kevin O'Sullivan, Florida
Brian O'Connor, Virginia
Chad Holbrook, South Carolina
Rob Childress, Texas A&M
Mike Martin, Florida State
Dan McDonnell, Louisville
Dan Heefner, Dallas-Baptist (a popular name)
Josh Holliday, Oklahoma State
ETC

Tim Corbin and Rob Childress had head coaching experience prior to their current job.

Childress coached ONE season at some now defunct NAIA type school. Hardly say that really qualifies but you're so butthurt at the mentions of Bohannon you're going to split hairs over everything.

A proven coach would have at least 3-5 years at a Power 5 school who's teams make it regularly to the Super Regionals/CWS
