The way he flamed out at UCLA is what scares me. It isn't like he didn't have talent to work with.

And he got creamed in each one. Bama under Gotfired put up a better fight against UF than UCLA did that year.

So your argument isn't that he won most of his games, but rather that when he did lose, he lost by more points than you would have liked.

Seems legit.

So because he lost in the final four makes him the equivalent of Grant? Stahp

It's UCLA, you get fired for only going to Sweet Sixteens.

Not really. That program isn't anywhere close to what it used to be.

There's a reason for that. His name is Ben Howland.

UCLA has four Final Four appearances during the last 32 years, Howland coached three of them.

Pitt had not made it to a regional semi in 30yrs, when Howland did it in 2/4 yrs at Pitt.

He actually brought them probably the most success they had experienced since John Wooden

He did for a while, but when he left he left the program a shell of what it was earlier in his tenure. He flamed out pretty badly.

This is what scares me about him. Either he stopped giving a shite or the game started passing him by because he had enough talent to be decently successful.

He recruited shitty attitudes. The team he left Alford is damn good and has a lot better attitudes.

Twitter is saying Howland wants back badly. He'll be hired this offseason people are guessing.

Them hiring Grant would be Bill Battles saving grace.

Pardon my ignorance, but why would that be a good hire for them? What do they see in CAG when their fired coach beat him?

Obviously I see why it is good for Bama

Lets play hypothetical here and say Grant leaves while he can choose to. Would hiring Ben Howland be a possibility and would it kill the momentum that AU would gain with Pearl?

Hiring a well known coach may stop it some, but I'm not sure how many coaches have a personality anywhere close to Pearl. Howland definitely doesn't.
