Meechie Johnson's basketball journey is an interesting one.

After transferring back on forth between Ohio State and South Carolina, Johnson is headed back to Columbia to finish his career. Per SDS:
quote:

Johnson has had a whirlwind of a college career. He started at Ohio State and spent 2 years in Columbus before transferring to South Carolina for his next 2 years. Then he transferred back to Ohio State for the 2024-25 campaign. That was set to be his final year of eligibility, but he was limited to just 10 games.

Thus, Johnson is now seeking a medical hardship waiver in order to be eligible for a 6th season of college basketball. If he does get that waiver, he’ll be heading back to South Carolina for a 2nd stint in Columbia.
The Cleveland, Ohio native averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
