After practice on Monday, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops announced that Patrick Towles will be the Wildcats starting quarterback to begin the 2015 season.

Towles, a junior from Fort Thomas, KY, beat out redshirt freshman Drew Barker. Per The Courier Journal:

“It was a good battle. Drew did some very good things,” Stoops said, but in the team’s first preseason scrimmage “Patrick played exceptional on Saturday. Really encouraged with his progress.”
Towles threw for 2,718 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2014.
