There's too much information for our minds to absorb and process so we have to make shortcuts and compartmentalize everything. One way we do this is by observing superficial attributes and making judgments to help us with our decisions.

The only way to "fix" this is to get to know people better, but we don't have the time to get to know everyone in the world, so we are stuck making judgments on appearance or actions that we see in our short interactions with others.

Those who say we shouldn't judge on appearances must have a better system for assimilating the information presented. If so, I'd like to know, because it goes against biology.

In short, stereotypes exist for a reason and human behavior is typical. If you don't want to be perceived a certain way, change your actions to fit a different stereotype. Either that, or get to know a lot of people.

"Afro" comes from African American. Does that make afro an anti-black remark?

Well, I don't know enough about him to dislike him, but generally, I don't like people who act like something they clearly are not, ie, white boys who pretend to be black. People who do that clearly aren't comfortable in their own skin. I don't dislike jews either, just couldn't think of a better description of what he has on his head, but obviously, he wants it to get as close to the African-American culture as possible. I think Jefferson has explained it well, but so that you PC crybabys don't have me banned (sthgadawg)I will just re-phrase the question.

Guy on the bottom clearly looks like a thug. Wouldn't amount to anything.

You get that he pretends to be black based on his hat and white sunglasses?

Nothing in the photo suggests he is trying to be black.

Stereotypes are unavoidable, and are often useful.

But at the end of the day, it's what they do, not how they look.

So far, Jacob Park looks like a solid kid.

I didn't reference the photo someone else posted. I was talking about his interviews and in all of them you can hear and see what I am talking about. Watch one.

To clarify, I suspected it to be antisemetic because of the implications that his character was flawed because he didn't sound white, and had a jew fro. Just sounded like bigotry at first, but read too much into it.

I've spent too much time on /pol/.

Well, in reality, it doesn't make my character any less flawed if I change Jew-Fro, to Afro. I just want to know how many folks predict trouble out of him, but I have only gotten a few actual answers.

Maybe you watched one where he forgot who he was supposed to pretend to be.

There's a big difference between being a PC cry baby and simply understanding the cultures of other groups of people. However, understanding that does require one to leave their rural bomb shelter.

You can't make this shite up...........

An uppity PC referee throws a yellow flag down to penalize someone for not "understanding the cultures of blah fricking blah"............and then takes a crack at "rural" people implying they are all uncultured close-minded ignoramuses living in paranoid bomb shelters..

Apparently, in this overly-sensitive PC society, some groups are more deserving of PC protection and cultured open-mindedness than others are.......... Too fricking funny.

Your attempt at spinning my comment was noble, but unsuccessful.

I'm not a PC person at all, I call it like I see it no matter the ethnicity or creed of the parties involved. I do however, take issue with people who openly admit to being isolated then make uppity claims on how the rest of us, who haven't isolated ourselves, are doing it wrong. A large portion of my family is "rural" as you would put it, and I don't regard them as uncultured. I admire some of the aspects of their way of life. Nowhere in my 2 sentence comment did I make a broad brush statement about all rural people. You took a big leap.

As I would put it???? Huh?

That was your quote, not mine.

Honestly, doesn't seem like that a big leap from where I'm sitting......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you chime in to explain to us how understanding of different cultures you are..........as compared to "rural" people living in bomb shelters?

And please remember the context of this thread....... which means that when you say "understanding of different cultures" .....apparently that means not poking fun of curly hair and the awkward phenomenon of young whites who mimic black hip-hop culture.

I never said I was the dahli llama of other cultures, I said there was a big difference in being a PC cry baby and understanding other cultures. If you're asking about me, I haven't achieved status in either of those camps.

I can't tell what he's trying to be based on the pictures, but I'm 100% that he probably has a bunch of pictures like these with tags of "jus tryin' 2B Me, cuz"
