MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County Board of Education on Thursday relieved head football coach Rush Propst of "any and all coaching duties." Propst has been suspended with pay since Feb. 26 while an investigation was under way.

The board has still not disclosed what the allegations against him are. The board heard public comments for about 30 minutes before going into executive session at 2:30 p.m. for its deliberations. They were in closed session until 4:45 p.m., when they came out and voted unanimously to relieve the coach of duty.

The Moultrie Observer will post updated information here as it becomes available.

Shocking.

I'll take him at Ware though. Maybe he can get us over the hump before we would have to fire him

Dude’s a maggot. CC’s probably about to be stripped of some wins/championships, otherwise there’s no way they would have fired him.

The case has been turned over to the Ga. Professional Standards Commission for further investigation. If I had to make a guess, I would say his days of coaching in this state are over.

By the way, K9...I hear Franklin Stephens is about to resign at Ware to take the Mceachern HC job. Any truth to that?

Franklin Stephens

I learned a good bit from him at an aspiring head coaches clinic I went to a couple of years ago. He seems like a more Atlanta guy than South GA though. He was great at Tucker.

I honestly wouldn't know, I know he came in and had everyone excited but he hasn't really accomplished anything of note.

Might be best for both parties to get a fresh start. I'm not a fan of his offense personally. Would like to see something more spread oreiented with athletes and speed we usually have.

He just hired the OC from Villa Rica who has a Camden county ties also So I'm guessing some variation of WingT/Spread Wing offense is coming

He gone. He reigned couple days ago. He tried running the spread this past year. Maybe he will switch up for good instead of the wing t. I'm hoping we pull the coach from pierce county honestly.

Yep...Although those offenses work (Wing-T, Veer, Flexbone) in HS football, a lot of them are going the way of the dodo due to a lack of preparation for the college game. Lowndes gave up on the Wing-T a couple of years ago, even though it won then a few state titles. Thomas County has gone from the Veer to the Spread now, and Ware Co. has tried the Spread, too. In fact, almost every HS team in SW Ga. now runs some variation of the Spread.

Offensive schemes come and go in cycles. The option was once the most popular offense at the HS and college level. It will all come back full-circle one day. It almost always does.
