I never did a cruise but I did spend two weeks there once. One week was in Kauai and the next was in Honolulu. If you're into nature and hikes you'll love Kauai very pretty island with some good hiking spots. Got to learn a bit of surfing there two as well as visiting movie spots like scenes from Jurassic Park. Just don't harm the chickens I'm pretty sure they're federally or state protected

Honolulu was really nice as well I believe Diamond Head was the place I was told to check out and it was worth it. It is in fact a city so if you're not into that I'd recommend heading outside the city. That being said the hotel I stayed at had a club underneath it and I got to chill with some Kiwis and Aussies that night
