I posted recently about buying a new truck. Im leaning alot more heavily toward a boat now and just staying with no car payment.

Im moving off the island and out into the country (well, to me anyway) and want a way to stay on the water. So im gonna sell the harley and buy a cabin cruiser my business partner is wanting to sell me. Its a 2003 24' chapparal that looks almost identical to the boat pictured below

The deal is too good to pass up. It sleeps 6, shower and head, propane stove, super nice depth finder, flat screen tv, great surround sound, etc

Been kind of a shitty year by most accounts and digging the idea of camping in style with chicks out on the water for several days at a time

It's probably got a piece of shite briggs and stratton I/O with bad head pressure, and I guarantee you it doesn't sleep 6.

Got a 24' black scout. Where you take your boat chef? I usually hit up daufuski or the sand bar off north tybee

Idk how that works actually

The biggest boat ive ever owned was a 21' bowrider

And fwiw, i know the thing doesnt sleeep 6 COMFORTABLY, nor would i attempt it unless kids were involved. But that is what its rated

Mainly out merles inlet and camping off little tybee. This would be the largest boat ive had by a mile though. Is yours a sleeper too?

Im looking at moving out toward springfield and away from the salt water some. The last boat i had was savaged by salt damage. Wanting to chill on the lake more this time around

You use sea tow down here? Tell me that isnt the best money you spend on your boat every year down here

Damn that is country. Yeah I'm sure we have sea tow membership. Without it you better get a loan.

I own a 16' clackacraft drift boat. It's a steelhead catching machine. Not at all similar to what you're looking at, but you asked, so.....

Well i say that only because its like 60 or 70 bucks a year. Before i had it last time i had to call once and they charge like 100/hr to come get you. Its a hell of a deal Unless your setup is practically new your almost gaurenteed to use it once or twice a year. Even if its just running out of gas

Looks like a sweet boat to me. I have very little use for that type of boat on my neck of the woods but would be fun for two months out of the year.

Nah thats cool. I had thought about getting something small for the creek down here about like that. Just because i love casting for shrimp a gigging at night. For some reason im in the "RV on the water" mode though. Just a different experience. Could end up being a disastrous waste of money, idk. I hope not

If I'm spending that kind of coin it's going to be on a 22' aluminum jet sled....but obviously for a totally different use. I want a larger boat that I can take in the salt and up the rivers in skinny water for the salmon runs. But that boat would be a blast if you use it enough.

Nice looking boat. Are you going to moor it or trailer it?

Personally I have found renting to be a more cost effective solution than owning.

If I were going to buy I would get a sailboat, no less than 32 feet and go with a catamaran at that.

Giving up a new truck and a Harley for a boat sounds dubious to me though... But that's me.

Hope it works out great for you though.

Father in law has a 33" cruiser. They love it. That thing can barley sleep 6. I refuse to sleep down there. Too cozy

Oh ill definitely trailer it. Itll cost me an extra 5 grand after i sell the bike. So no huge out of pocket really. And i feel like ill get several more months a year use out of it than ill realistically ride the bike

My thinking is that a boat this size has enough purposes to justify keeping it on the water. Large enough to take a small group out and party, comfortable enough that two people would actually enjoy two or three day wknds on, can still tube/ski/fish.

Ive lived on tybee almost all my life and moving further inland is gonna have to carry some perks with it. I cant just divorce the water. It wont work out
