Should we be concerned that he knows the Rutgers coach's name but not Kirby's?

Are you sure it was Kirby?

We may end up with 5 or 6 5*s.
Jamaree Salyer
Brenden Cox
Cade Mays
KJ Henry (lotto pick)

We should finish 3rd behind Texas unless Jimbo flip some of those Texas recruits. Ohio St. should loose Brenden Cox to us and Emory Jones to Bama. We may not end up that far from the #1 spot.

Cox and Henry are really long shots.

ETA
I also wouldn't forget thta Alabama is looming out there. Depending on what they do we might be looking at closer to #4.

It would be a major surprise to me if we finish at 4. Top two class, IMO

Edit: obviously pending a couple more rounds of prospect rerankings

Take a good long hard look at Ohio State's class. They are WAAAAY ahead of us with the same number of recruits.
Now take a look at Texas' class. Same numer of recruits and they are decently ahead of us.
Alabama has 7 fewer recruits, but they are way behind us in points....but keep in mind they have 7 straight #1 classes, and you have to think Saban has plenty of big time recruits in his pocket. We MIGHT finish higher...but I am guessing #4.

I hope you are right, but the numbers just don't support it. Keep in mind, we aren't the only program with some big time recruits considering us.

I’ll take 3/4 and 1st or 2nd in the SEC every day of the week and twice on Sunday considering how much this was supposed to be a “down year” in recruiting

Henry maybe, but I don't think Cox is as long of a shot as you're thinking. I think we finish top 2 pushing hard for the top spot. The numbers you're talking about don't tell the whole story.

No one us more confidence in Saban's closing ability than I do, but they lost a ton of their best recruiters last year. They will still have a great class, but I expect this one to finish top 6 or so for them. I think we finish at number 2 based on the numbers. Personally I just think we have bigger names left on the board.

Cox is a Bama/UGA battle right now.

I'd be very surprised if we didn't finish top 2 or 3. We finish with 2-3 more 5 stars, and a few other top 150 players. Really don't see how Bama can catch us at this point, OSU might not even be able to beat us out if we flip Cox and Bama flips Emory.

We have different math machines then

The numbers definitely don't support Bama passing us. I know Bama is Bama but unless the flip a lot, and I mean a lot of people, there just aren't that many top guys left for them to make up the kind of ground to catch us after we reel in a few more top 50 players. Texas' class does look good right now but they're coming off a 6-6 season while Oklahoma is going to the playoffs and Jimbo just arrived in state, so they'll probably lose a couple of players.

Well, he goes to a school right up the road. My son wrestled against his high school. Last I have been hearing is if he leaves OSU, Alabama would be his next choice. Unless something has changed, because admittedly I haven't asked, nor heard anything the last few weeks or so.

I agree. Was not meaning to say anything negative. Just being realistic.

Herman is still the shiny new toy. Jimbo might make it tougher, but Texas will always be the top choice for Texas kids.

Hey, look, I hope you guys are right, but I'm just afraid you are all riding the playoff high too hard, and are in for a disappointment, if you think we finish at 2 or 3.

Like I said, I am all for you being right and me being wrong, though.

I think we're riding the "Kirby and staff are the best recruiters in CFB and now have an SEC championship and playoff appearance to thwart any negative recruiting we were receiving from other schools" high.

People have been saying top 3 for much longer than we've even known we would be in the SECCG. It has nothing to do with a playoff high.

Kirby is a great recruiter, and I hope you are right. I would think at BEST a #3 class, though. We should all be ecstatic if we get to #2.

Ok? Just because people are saying it doesn't make it true or possible. Again, and I'm not sure why everybody seems to be missing this....

I hope you are all correct and I am wrong. My problem with this board, is if you disagree with anybody, you become an enemy. Our fan base has some weird idea that we should go lock step with the majority opinion no matter what it is, and heaven forbid anybody insinuate we are flawed in any way.

Go back a few pages. There's a link where Cox stated he may be wavering.
