it's not a bad go at it and I'd think the starters all look right but I'd probably nitpick some. I wouldn't have any guys that haven't enrolled yet on a 2-deep. I think Jaquay should be the lesson there. All the talent in the world doesn't mean you are ready. Also, the starting DL looks all jumbled. Think you have the right guys but the positions are all wrong.

I'm basing the 2 freshman on the WR depth chart on three simple facts:

1. None of the WR freshmen will redshirt.

2. Sabian Holmes will fall further and further down the depth chart if his performance in the spring game was any indication.

3. LeKendrick Williams is a situational receiver (burner to frustrate an already tired defense), but not a definitive second teamer

As far as the DL, I was unsure how things would play out based on Coach Sumlin's depth chart. What you say makes sense if Obioha is moved to weakside and Stansbury starts at SS. I would be SHOCKED if Daeshon Hall didn't get significant PT at weakside, especially if Julien's recovery takes longer than expected.

Yeah, Obioha is a question mark but I've heard positive things. Speaking of unknowns, someone I trust yesterday told me Richmond is not coming back. I haven't been able to verify that but he's usually on the mark

Otherwise on line, Ennis is the nose and Zo is the DT. The nose is the guy that lines up over the ball. You probably know all this but not sure everyone does. Our system is a bit of a hybrid 4-3. The SDE-NT-DT work much like a traditional 3 man front. The WDE moves around a bit and is a lot like a full-time blitzing outside backer (not very different from the old Jack). The 3 man LB group is SLB which is a traditional outside backer that lines up on the TE/Slot while the WLB looks more like a MLB in a 3-4 as he often lines up inside the tackle box and his gap is often inside the WDE (who usually has outside contain and so often takes a wide rush lane).

Most people think of OLBs as the same or DTs as the same but they aren't for us. This actually leaves more overlap from positions that don't sound the same though (WLB and MLB for instance). Which is why a guy like Donnie Baggs can easily transition from Will to Mike. Or we can move Spencer Nealy or Zo Williams from SDE to DT easily. Different responsibilities but a lot of the same skillsets are needed.

To put it visually

In our base system, we use the odd numbered system. The nose is a 0, the DT is a 3. The SDE is a 3 or 5 (usually a 3 on early downs and a 5 on passing downs) and the WDE is a 5. Hopefully that makes sense.

I could have sworn that Nealy was the nose and Ennis was the 3-tech last year.

Richmond or Richardson? I thought Richmond got kicked off the team.

Richmond. There has been no official word but I was told he's gone. That's what I'm saying. Richardson was on the sideline (not dressed) for the M&W game

Nealy played the DT in all our games last season except against Bama where we switched it up to try to isolate Nealy on Barret Jones.

Richmond isn't even on the roster anymore, so I assumed he was gone. Kenneth Marshall still is.
