ESPN Article

Here is my issue with this article, he is comparing stats between TN and NW, but he doesn't mention the difference in competition

does he really believe that NW faced the number of high quality teams we did?

maybe our rush def. stats aren't what they seem because we face an above average rushing attack every week.

a look at NW's schedule tells me that they may be doing a bit of defensive stat padding,

NW page on ESPN with schedule listed

yeah, maybe i'm a homer, but TN's schedule kicks their schedule in the arse

I'm getting Deja Vu here, this is setting up exactly like last year, people pick against TN and call them the inferior team.

So, obviously it is TN's destiny to run them out of the stadium.

I just ignore this kind of shite, the bowls especially if they aren't involved in the playoff are just so damn hard to predict due to the long break and different factors that effect motivation that it just isn't worth my time to read all this
I'm just gonna wait and see what happens on 1/1/16

We're playing a team that is ranked ten spots higher than us. It's probably the greatest difference in bowl matchups, though I'd have to look to confirm that. That means both the bowl committee and the SEC office realize we're playing great football right now but it doesn't necessarily mean that anyone who hasn't been watching us play understands that and the huge difference in our respective rankings is gonna lead a lot of writers to very lazy work.

They're doing articles for every bowl so the writers take a quick look at rank, stats, W-Ls and then write something even if they've never watched either team play a snap and that rarely tells the whole story of how good or bad any given team is.

Any article that relies solely on statistics is just a fancy way of saying "I haven't watched either team". NW almost lost to Ball State, were gifted a victory over Wisconsin by bad officiating, got steamrolled by UM and Iowa, and almost lost to Penn State, Nebraska and PURDUE. They really don't worry me in the slightest, Tennessee has moved the ball on much better defenses and has defended against much stronger run games, their QB being a below average passer is just icing on the cake.

They cannot pass the ball. Completely one dimensional. They do not worry me
