Here is the transcript, stolen from another site.

quote:

Just knowing that those texts are public do you understand why Tennessee fans are struggling to believe your objectivity when it comes to events that expired?

Well... I don't know what you're talking about when you say objectivity. I'm a columnist and allowed to have an opinion.

I understand that but when you go on and bash Tennessee fans after the fact knowing you had the story first knowing your relationship with Schiano and Currie not getting...

Wait a second you don't know what my relationship with Jon Currie is.

I know that you sent him a text message saying 'LOL I'm going to try and sell it'

Do you know how many Athletic Directors I text every day?

Sure. but do you understand why some Tennessee fans have a hard time buying objectivity. I send a lot of texts all the time. I can acknowledge that if some of those became public people would have a hard time buying my objectivity. So do you understand that some fans would see it that way?

I don't really know what kind of corner you're trying to back me into. I'm not a Tennessee fan and I can't look at it from their perspective. I can only look at things from my perspective and I'm totally comfortable with how I handled that situation.

Ok so Ohio State, we know that they did not elevate Greg Schiano correct?

They did not.

Ok so if he was the best candidate for Tennessee and deserving of a HCing job why did Ohio State pass him over?

Well first of all you're talking about two very different situations...

Right and Greg Schiano wasn't on Tennessee's staff. He's actually on Ohio State's staff.

Who the interim coach is doesn't matter. (gets off topic and talks about Meyer - completely avoids the question at all) - Frankly, if Meyer gets fired this is one of the biggest stories in CFB history and I don't care who the interim coach is.
If you're asking me why Ryan Day got the interim coaching position I would say it likely benefits them to have an unknown who has no history. He was handpicked protege of Meyer and is kinda a blank slate with no national profile at all.
The last thing Ohio State needs is someone with a negative connotation attached to their program. If you're asking about a negative connotations associated with Schiano I would say the negative connotation on Schiano was caused by Tennessee fans.

Did Schiano interview at Oregon?

I believe he interviewed at Oregon 2 years ago when Oregon ended up hiring Willie Taggart

There are reports that Oregon passed on him because of his connection to Penn State. Was Oregon being ridiculous when they did that?

I don't believe that is accurate I don't agree with that statement. I have people... sources that were close to that situation and I disagree with that statement

Part of the defense of Schiano was that Urban Meyer personally vetted Schiano and if he's good enough for Urban Meyer he should be good enough for Tennessee. Is there now reason to doubt that vetting process?

No. Look look... Schiano is a very known quantity in college football. I want to halt it here. Tennessee hired a coach 8 months ago. Why are we still doing this? The whole world has moved on except for Tennessee fans.

Well let me tell you why Tennessee fans are doing this. Tennessee has had a disastrous 10 year. Horrible coaches. Horrible decision. I'm not saying anything you don't know you've covered this before. They've had people who have made decisions where it appeared they didn't even have Tennessee's best interests at heat.
Currie made decisions at time and when Tennessee fans had finally had enough they spoke up.
I agree with you that any fan who really didn't have objections but used that as a sword to lop of his head should be ashamed and I have a huge problem with those people. That is not right.
But when Tennessee fans finally had enough and took back their program and took control they were told by you and a lot of national media how great of a coach Schiano is and when Schiano wasn't elevated within his own program - Tennessee fans are taking a bit of a victory lap and i can't blame them for that.

Well - ok why don't you ask Jimmy Sexton, who is the agent for both Schiano and Pruitt, why he posited Schiano for his alma mater.
We could go round and round. My whole point with Schinao is that given the circumstances and lack of anyone really interested I think it's a circumstance you hire the AD to make a decision and then you judge the AD on if the hire works. That's the way this is supposed to work.
I know Currie has become this boogie man for Tennessee fans but even with what has happened he is still very well respected within the business. All the people he brought into Tennessee's administration are still there. Fulmer has not made big changes and has left almost all of Currie's hires in place (talks about his work at Kansas State as well).
I say all that to say - you judge whether the hire is good after 3-4 years. This was sorta a pre-judging of the hire and cut it off at the knees.

How do you feel Jeremy Pruitt is going to do at Tennessee? Do you feel that is a solid fit?

Pruitt has never been a HC before and so we don't know. We're just guessing. He's got a tough job. Tennessee job is a hard coaching job and he is going to have to have a lot to survive the games but also to survive the ... I'm not going to pretend Tennessee is the only place but they have a negativity that frankly is counterproductive when things go wrong. agreed
What are they going to be? probably 2-6 at some point with how the schedule falls out? How does he hold when that starts rolling downhill at him? how does he respond? We just don't know.

TBH I was expecting worse. Wolken just avoided all of the tough questions.
