Why is the barn resorting to such drastic measures?

Last year it was grabbing LSU's leftovers with DeAngelo Benton after he finally qualified and now it's going after laptop thief and Florida failure Cam Newton.
I realize Auburn is desperate to recruit well, but can't you guys at least have a bit of self-respect? What happened to "stars don't matter" and recruiting players that would fit in well with the "Auburn family?" Or have DUIs and robbery become the family norm?

Bama took Phelon Jones after he left LSU. The Barn will be competitive as much as most Bama fans hate to realize.

Yeah, but it was pretty simple. He asked if he could transfer from LSU because he was riding the bench. Les Miles said fine. Jones and his father contacted Saban and asked about a potential transfer. Saban agreed.
Cameron Newton steals a laptop and gets kicked out of school. Newton transfers to a junior college where he continues to be successful. Newton is recruited by Auburn, MSU, and Oklahoma. Newton takes official recruiting visit to Auburn where he is wined and dined. Newton commits to Auburn and will enroll in January.
You see the difference?
