Really? You are comparing the game to that time frame?

Well, if we can have no celebration like back then, maybe we need to go back to the old rules too? No helmet to helmet hits, no pussy arse QBs, no foul for head slaps, clothe-lines, forearm punches, etc.

im still wondering how yall think the last few years taunting has been so bad.

i really can't think of any instances lately where its been really bad and this penalty would wipe points off.

I know ole miss has been flagged twice in a row for diving in the endzone vs LSU but both were horse shite calls because guys were close enough to catch them. with the rule yall like that bullshite penalty that only hurts them a little will now take points off the board.

I agree.

College isn't even close to the level of the NFL, which it seems like most of the "for" opinions have developed from.

I really could see their side if it was really out of control. I like it kinda out of control but i could see the need to throw 15 yard penalties after a play but to me its really not.

I can't think of any examples of cfb celebrations being to far. They could provide a link though but even then i still dont think points need to come off the board. field position being hurt is the worst that should happen.

I'm a big fan of "da U" caliber taunting, so I hate this rule.

no one is even close to doing that anymore and it saddens me. those clips are fun to watch but i just dont see the point of this rule. I really could see them making a argument because of that but none of that is really going on.

This penalty would have taken a score away from Auburn in the 2010 Outback Bowl (McFadden started high-stepping at about the 15-yd line on his 100-yd int return for a TD).

And, if the rule had existed then, you wouldn't have seen me complaining about it. I was pissed off already at McFadden for the subsequent 15-yd penalty.

No, I'm not comparing "the game" to that timeframe. I am speaking specifically with regard to heartbreaktiger's assertion that we don't let players have any "fun". Or we don't want to LET players have any "fun".

Which is bullshite.

i think it should only be a penalty if you taunt an opposing player or fan (and even then none of this live ball crap). other than that i think they should award bonus points for the most creative choreographed celebrations

like another poster already said..if you have a problem with it stop them from scoring or sacking your quarterback etc etc in the first place

that shouldn't be taken off the board its just high stepping.

if this rule was in place LSU might have beat ole miss in 09 because it would have taken a td off the board wrongly because the penalty was wrong.

imo that hurts the game more than mcfadden high stepping. 15 yards on kick off is fine for that, stealing a td because the ref fricked up calling a dive into the endzone taunting when if the player didn't dive he wasn't scoring is actually doing damage to the game.

see and they already have a penalty for taunting and its what it should be 15 yards after the play.

no need to fix something that isn't broken. I dont see how the game is being ruined when celebrations have been toned down aton.

It saddens me too. I would have loved to have been a Miami fan back then, everyone is such a pussy these days. You should be able to do nearly any celebration you want it you have the swag to back it up.

They got over 200 penalty yards against Nebraska and still beat them like a drum

that was texas in the cotton bowl. i think its still a record beating for the cotton bowl even with 200 yards in penalties

imagine if they didn't have that many how bad it could have been
