The SEC’s Amended Petition was mostly about their legal error

The SEC screwed up the original by filing 1983 claims against state entities - namely, LSU and the Board of Supervisors (LSU isn’t even a juridical entity).
Which is odd since I’ve been told that the SEC is perfect and has tons of money to pay brilliant lawyers… anyways.
They needed to amend their complaint, so along with naming the LSU Board members and AG in their individual capacities, they added the ridiculous headline-grabbing claim about seeking the right to dismiss LSU from the SEC. Since the press is primarily composed of idiots, it worked like a charm and that’s your headline.
It’s still a pig of a lawsuit, but it serves as fodder for the idiots. And hey, given the judge is a double-Alabama grad, it might work in some capacity.
