Of all 8-16 seeds, Alabama was the most picked on ESPN’s brackets to make the final four. They will have many fans because of this. People like to be right.
Disclaimer: I expect we’ll lose by 18 tomorrow because I don’t expect Petty to replicate his performance against Virginia tech. If he is miraculously in the 5-8, 6-9 territory from beyond the arc though, I think we can beat them. Alabama can give anyone fits when they hone in defensively. Tech is a good scoring squad and had two shot clock violations last night off a timeout with a full clock. We see it every March. Teams with long rangy athletes and a good point guard can knock off goliath. Our problem has been putting the ball in the net. Last night was the best offensive performance I’ve seen us have this year. We looked calm in possession other than about a 5 minute stretch in the second half. Typically we play out of control and stand around watching Collin. Last night actually resembled basketball for the majority of the game, and I haven’t seen that all year. Nova is an entirely different beast, but a team that can blow out the likes of Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn is certainly capabale from a talent perspective of beating anyone in the country by a bucket, which is all we need. I think Sexton will be up to the task, we will just need to hit some threes early and get Hall involved in the post to keep their defense honest.
