I know what he was saying and he is wrong.

Hell, one could argue that the SWC was one of the best leagues in the 1960's and 1970's. It was a Power Conference for its entire existance. Going 9-2 in the 60's & 70's didn't guarantee a bowl game. In today's bowl climate, 2 overall losses puts teams in the playoff hunt and NY6 bowl games.
