congrats to the Tigers for righting the ship and having a very successful season...but wasn't it Tiger fans who tried to invalidate the Ole Miss Sugar Bowl run last season by saying the Sugar Bowl doesn't mean anything anymore? ~double standards and shite~

To a great many of us LSU fans who grew up in the shadow of the sugar bowl, it is still looked upon very favorably. LSU in the sugar has been and always will be a huge thing in our state.

Not necessarily highest ranked team. As long as a team is in the top 14 or 16 (whatever the qualification for a NY6 bowl is), then they are eligible to be selected.
Auburn and aTm won't be in the top 14/16, though. So it'll be LSU if they win out.
