Bowl money yo

Most teams lose money on bowl games.

The $750,000 payout to go to the New Mexico bowl probably isn't even enough to cover the travel expenses.

There appears to be two trains of thought: "More football is better than less football" and "more quality football between good teams is better". If the standard for a Bowl game was 8–4 or 9–3, every Bowl would probably be highly watched, and going to a Bowl would actually mean that your team was legit and hard to beat.

I agree with this. Look at the Independence Bowl last year. 2 teams with high expectations going into the year that drastically underachieved and went 6-6.

Did anyone give a shite about that game? No. Did the fans give a shite? No. Empty Independence Stadium with two 6-6 teams that had shite years(according to expectation). I bet the Indy Bowl didn't even really knock it out of the park with the revenue for the game

Exhibit A as to why these mediocrity bowl games are stupid.

Not to mention that if more football really was better, regardless of quality, then the arena league would be insanely popular. It's season is the NFL/CFB offseason, so there's no excuse for anyone not to watch except for the fact that it's sucky.

Why? The only bowl game that matters is the one that decides the NC. The rest are for money, fans, and the players. It's just an extra game tacked on to the season with no impact on anything.

Personally, I like seeing teams play that normally don't. It's difficult to schedule OOC games between power 5s during the regular season.

Sure, during the process of going. But once the royalty checks roll in, they make that money back.
