I take my pom pom and shake it during the fight song and for kickoffs. I use my hands to clap the rest of the time. I don't have a problem with pom-poms. And the correct terminology would be a "pom shaker" for the ones with the sticks. The ones without the sticks are just pompoms.

Question: How prevalent is the kid who tears a pom pom strand out and uses it as a make shift whistle? You know the one...stretches it out tight and blows through strand to make a high pitched squeak.

I'd like to point out that in the above referenced Arkansas pic, only women are seen with pompoms.

that appears to be a rouge HS soccer team who brought their own in as a group. Not school/fan sanctioned and will not be asked back.
