Actually I post about tiger ball. If Bama is mentioned, it's in response to someone else.

REALLY? b/c I just looked at a bunch of your past posts and can not find a post where you aren't talking about BAMA. You are as delusional as most of you fanbase. Bamascoop is the only Bama poster who come son here and contributes..intstead of it always being Bama this or Saban that!

i will never give him credit for this program and if you do then go change your logo to sabins Face and not LSU!!!

That's your problem, not mine. :beatdeadhorse:

LSU hadn't so much as sniffed a national championship in almost half a century when Sabin was hired.

Believe whatever you want, but as far as I'm concerned, credit where credit is due. Saban rebuilt LSU's FB program, recruited very well, coached LSU to multiple SECC's and a BCSNC, left LSU's coffers well-stocked with good players and decided to move on. So be it.

This is Les Miles' program now and he's recruited very well, the zenith of which appears to be a stellar incoming class. CLM took over and has coached through two of his four years without his team or staff getting an off week throughout the teeth of LSU's schedule. CLM did well his first year on the heels of Katrina and the incredible upheaval that wrought, both on the people of south Louisiana and LSU's FB team. This year, with inexperienced young QBs, a mistake with co-Ds and an overall disappointing season, once again as the result of yet another hurricane, LSU had to run through the teeth of its season without a bye week to regroup.

Les Miles has brought yet more SEC and BCSNC hardware to LSU's trophy case . I anticipate CLM correcting the co-D situation by bringing in a well-respected DC who will restore LSU's hard-nose, well-disciplined defensive mind-set.

I appreciate what both head coaches have accomplished at and for LSU this decade. I don't have to diminish Saban's accomplishments at LSU to fully appreciate what Coach Les Miles' has accomplished during his tenure at LSU. I expect CLM to make good decisions heading into the 2009 season, thus ensuring both his and the LSU FB program's continued success after a bumpy, disappointing 2008 season.

We're competing against Bama to keep quite a few of our recruits home.

With the contacts Saban made during his tenure at LSU (although he rubbed some HS coaches the wrong way), we're always going to have to compete with 'Bama for home grown recruits ... just like FL and TX are having to compete heavily with LSU recruiting them.

I can't see where this year's Sugar is going to affect that dramatically. It's not like LA FB players haven't been paying attention all season. We have one of LSU's best recruiting classes ever coming in.

I've always pulled for SEC teams in post-season bowl games and I always will. Like it or not, until last Saturday eve, 'Bama was ranked #1 for nigh on half the season and played UF tough. It's good for the entire SEC.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this point. Come what may, we are LSU first and foremost, then comes the SEC.

good post and i agree he helped our program but i just get irritated when people make it out to be just sabin who won championships without help....Just like you said that the program and the players play a role in how the season goes...Do to disappoining season i think miles did lose a couple of players on the team towards the end of the season which compounded the problems on the feild but I do feel he will return us to greatness in the following years!!!

Yeah, I know, Saint. Gets frustrating sometimes, never more than here recently. Certainly, LA offered Saban carte blanche, along with our usual wealth of homegrown, first rate players to recruit on a level simply unavailable to him at Michigan State (which has to compete with UM, tOSU and PSU for recruits).

In that sense, LSU was very, very good for Coach Nick Saban ... and he was good for LSU. It was good while it lasted, but he seemed almost bored at times to me in 2004 ... I could be wrong, but for now he seems to be more enthralled with challenges and climbing mountains than settling in and maintaining programs after he wins it all. Some people are built that way.

CLM is LSU's HC now and we're going to do what we always do as alumni, continue to support LSU from afar - darn it, I'm homesick! OT: even if it costs a fortune, I'm gonna have some good ole Gulf Shrimp and Crawfish (come February) over-nighted up here to cook up an old-fashioned, belated LA seafood anniversary dinner for my hubby.

Forever

Always pull for The SEC team even if you despise them.

Hate them next season when this madness starts again.

I agree. As much as you hate a team, I think you need to pull for them in a bowl game. Makes the SEC look better if we all win our bowl games. Good luck everyone!!!

Reminds me of a basketball game I went to in HS. This was in '77 the night before the Iron Bowl. Double Header at the BJCC. I went with a friend of mine who was a huge Auburn fan. Game one: Alabama vs USSR. Game two: Auburn vs Czechoslovakia. Remember, this was smack in the middle of the Cold War. The Soviets were a bonafide pro team and were huge. Most (not all) of the Auburn fans were pulling for the Soviets. Alabama hung around all night, and USSR slowly pulled away. With around a minute left, some giant about 7' 5" made a dunk that about brought the goal down to put in out of reach. The Auburn fans went nuts.

That was a little over the top. Made my buddy mad by pulling for the Czechs in game Two.

i've been tryin to explain this to people on this board for years. Most knowledgable posters (lsu and bama) get this. Some do not, and never will.
