In our school district, EVERY child has to take either Band, Choir, or Orchestra in 6th grade.

Not all guys are alpha males. Some guys are band members or frat boys. Everyone can serve a purpose.

Do you think this is still the case? Would you let your son join the school band?

My son's been a percussionist in the school band since the 6th grade. He's also is a black belt in Shorin-ryu and a brown belt on Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, so I'm hesitant to label him "less manly" or "full-on homo".

He just graduated from high school wants to major in chemical engineering. He was offered a full band scholarship to play at Northwestern State, but since they don't have a chemistry program, he decided to attend LSU to major in Chemical Engineering.

My wife wants him to play in the Tiger Band, but he says is marching band days are over.
