I think the point that SECWEST is so eloquently trying to make is that your classes are ranked high (and by high I mean 8 or 9th in the SEC), but many of them never see campus. But then again he may not be making that point, I can't understand half the shite he writes.

That's exactly what he's trying to say, but he's trying to argue that we a) don't agree with his sentiment and b) haven't already figured this shite out on our own.

Basically, he's saying that we shouldn't be excited over the 2011 class because of what happened in 2008 and 2009, and while I think it's fair for someone to suggest we temper our excitement, it's still a whopping load of butthurt.

Hey bruh. The facts are that our recruiting class this year was more highly rated than yours. Period. It doesn't mean we will be better than you next season. It doesn't mean we will beat you next season. It doesn't mean we will win X number of more games next season. It doesn't mean we are "on the rise". It doesn't mean our coach is better than yours. It doesn't mean ANYTHING at all OTHER than the fact that the average rankings of the athletes who signed LOI's with us is higher than that of your recruits. Period. End of story. It's a subjective and highly inaccurate business. For instance, had we recruited by stars only, we might have landed many 4 and 5 star players, but in the wrong positions. So next season, we'd have 10 WR's and 10 DB's who are all highly rated, but that's not going to help win games, do you understand? No one (no sane person anyway) thinks that recruiting "titles" in one year translate DIRECTLY into wins the following year. If you don't want OM fans talking shite about recruiting, pressure your staff to do a better job.

You were making great points until the last sentence. Your last sentence pretty much contradicts the rest of your statement.

The following is not a comment on Nutt or OM.

Our coach may already be doing a better job--you can't just go by rankings, as "it's a subjective and highly inaccurate business".

You have to go by results, which come from raw talent but also player development, teaching, and on-the-field coaching. Some 3-star recruits develop into 4-star players by doing nothing more than gaining muscle/weight and keeping (or improving) their HS speed. Others improve by coaching techniques or being used on the field in the most optimum way.

A very common quote among our current recruits is "I'm coming to Starkville to work hard". Not "I had a great time while visiting". Maybe, just maybe, Mullen is going after the highest rated players he can of whom he is positive will work their hardest. And telling recruits that they will work their butts off doesn't put off hard working recruits.

Similarly, I do know that Saban works the tails off recruits in his camps, and he won't pursue those that can't hack a tough camp. Saban gets highly rated AND hard working players, and he wins National Championships.

Right now, the highest-rated hard working players Mullen can get are mostly 3-stars. I'll take a hard-working 3-star over a more talented but less hard working 4- or 5-star any day. If Mullen continues to win, then he'll be able to attract some hard working AND higher rated players. And we will continue to rise.

And 2010. Plenty of thugs in that class too. Hell, a few of your guys already have lawyers and charges against them. Trust me, I'm not butt-hurt. I have enjoyed the hell out of football lately. Here's to the Future.

Define "thug" please.

And which "few of our guys." If you're referencing Tobias Singleton (one guy), then you're gonna be pretty butthurt when the charges are dropped.

Well here's the million dollar question...if you're not butt hurt, why do you spend more attention talking down a team...rather than talking up your own.

I read Ole Miss sites, Ole Miss blogs, Ole Miss sports because I'm happy as hell with Ole Miss football. I promise you...I could careless about making one thread about Mississippi State.

The attitude of a bulldog. All is well if Ole Miss is beat.

Well, Ole Miss has been beat...two straight years. That makes Dan Mullen 2-8 against the west overall. I didn't major in coaching or anything...but if he has goals of winning the SEC championship, he's going to have to make up a bunch more cutesy acronyms for other schools.

I admire Mullen for being able to sell mediocrity to his fanbase. State's really fired up for this 5 to 7 win upcoming season.

Same as every other thread of this nature the SECRANT has had over the past few months. Usually goes like this.

State Fan: Recruiting doesn't matter.
Ole Miss Fan: We killed yall at recruiting, of course you dont think it matters.
State Fan: Well you don't keep any of your players anyways.
Ole Miss Fans: The guys that leave are scrubs.
State Fans: We beat you on the field that is all that really matters.
Ole Miss Fans: You only care about beating us :obsessed:

Pissing some more, with a smattering of Bear and hunchback jokes.
