Predicting the future for if and when LSU leaves the SEC:

I think you will see a couple of schools want out, too.

The inconsistencies by the conference "leadership" re selective outrage and ignoring certain schools' use of professional and professional-associated players in various sports, the convenient calls and no calls in games, the itching feeling for decades that they were next on the chopping block except that the LSU's of the conference took the brunt of the ire.

I saw a Kentucky poster reasonably not understanding all the conference's outrage. I suspect a school like Kentucky or Vanderbilt may stand on a principled ground and see the writing on the wall when Furher Sankey turns his blitzkrieg of litigation to one of them. If MS State, for example, has success and takes attention away from Texas or Alabama, he may feel threatened and push them away, too. This, especially wanting to get ahead of the imminent collapse of the conference which would lead to financial ruin, gets them along.

Initially, I could see LSU and Tulane setting up a conference in solidarity, where Tulane could piggyback financially and LSU could begin the process of setting up a new conference. The Big is full of racist yankees and would have Oregon and Penn State play before LSU and Michigan State, regardless of the geographical absurdity, so I doubt we land there. The ACC would be intrigued, but after the murder in Death Valley Saturday, I think they'd feel threatened by us coming in to run their conference. The Big XII feels like a group of 4 school honestly, so we'd go our own way.

We'd set the conference headquarters up in Baton Rouge just because it's the state capital, not as a slight to Tulane, and we'd just call it the Southern Conference because...geography. But by the end of next year, I could see Kentucky and MS State coming over.

By the end of 2027 with Miami running the ACC and Clemson getting special treatment because of history, I could see a GA Tech team that is having some success feel slighted when the benefits of the third best conference are outweighed by what feels like spinning wheels. Seeing LSU lead the independent conference with better revenue numbers than expected could get them in talks to join.

Meanwhile, Auburn is feeling the heat after finally getting footing and then being targeted by a bitter Alabama on the cusp of finally realizing Saban isn't coming back. They and GA Tech join by the end of 2027, and so does Vanderbilt after seeing the changing winds and running the revenue increase numbers.

Florida and Ole Miss finally realize that the club is crumbling when they are considered last by the "in" group of Alabama, Texas, and money bags ANM. They join just before the 2028 season starts, and the SEC feels suddenly lonely. Georgia is bored squeaking out wins over Texas, and Alabama has no one to beat up on, so they join after 2028 with Florida dragging along in the summer of 2029. They wanted to stay for revenue sharing, but it's dried up.

With NIL finally under control, I could see some old school teams confident enough to test the waters, and someone like Sewanee could try to jump back into the game (of football), joining up while we let them in for a charity tax break or something.

Somewhere in here, we realize the conference expanded eastward, so we rebrand to the South Conference East, with a recognizable chant of SCE! SCE! SCE!
