I hope you are right. I'd rather have him for our situation than Nicky...was bear Bryant faithful to his wife?

So you want a guy that has never won anything over a guy that consistently wins everything?

He will bounce back pretty fast. In reality, a lesser known coordinator who has never been involved in a scandal is much more likely to commit a scandal when the power comes as a HC than a veteran who has already made a huge mistake and knows first hand how harsh the consequences are.

I would hire him in a heartbeat if I were the AD at UT or UK. He wins big and the odds of him doing anything like this again are very very low.

Solid post.

Our situation calls for an offensive genius. IMO nicky is a defensive genius. Fwiw I doubt we hire him back.

I think he wishes he wasn't caught. I think the immediate interview after the incident provides that he was willing to lie to everyone until it became impossible to do so. His first reaction was to lie for self and career gain and waited four months to provide an interview right before the college football season starts. Sorry, not buying it dude.
Who cares? If he's doing the right thing, he's doing the right thing. You're a fool for trying to guess his innermost thoughts. Plenty of people avoid doing bad things for no reason other than they're scared of getting caught.

I could sit here and say "The only reason Les Miles doesn't cheat on his wife is because he's afraid of getting caught" and you would have nothing to prove me wrong. My point would be just as valid as yours.

Why does it call for an offensive genius?

I'm just not taking him at face value. If we took him at face value, he would still be promoting his original lie immediately after the wreck and injury. I think it's foolish to do that.

I don't see how this is the same because Petrino actually did cheat, actually did lie about it immediately after, and only came clean because the facts as he stated them didn't add up. And now we have the interview. I think it's important to understand context in this and not act like I'm simply trying to throw the guy over the coals.

Coach Bryants wife wanted other women to have the chance to frick greatness so it was a completely different situation.

Bobby Petrino didn't have the same rules as a legend.

Another good post. Bobby made the comment that what will define him from this point forward is his choices, in making himself a better person and a better coach....one day at a time.

All true. He was trying to cover his arse, the way any cheater would immediately after being caught.

You said "and now" as if this happened immediately after he was fired. He's been in the wilderness (metaphorically speaking) for 4 months or however long it's been. He's been isolated from the media. He's had no job. Has he still had various consulting mettings or whatever and met with his agents, lawyers, etc? Of coruse. But for the most part, he's basically been stuck with his family that he betrayed. For four months. If we're going to talk about context, let's remember that, too.

It doesn't seem so crazy to me to think that BMFP has learned his lesson.

Interesting interview. Doesn't sound like he will be coaching soon.

He should go to the Pac-12...his offense would do great there.

Read the other day Cal might be interested in him taking over for Tedford.
