for those of us that do not follow recruiting except a week before NSD, what's up with those 3?
Tobias is playing everyone right now. PJ has been kinda quite as far as I know. And Brassell is "committed" to MSU.
Technically, Brassell should be a "soft verbal" being that he's still taking official visits. And from the things that I've seen and heard, his "commitment" is as much of a commitment as PJ and Tobias's......which isn't anything.

considering that we haven't signed any Juco WR's......um...yeah.
We've signed 25 already. And we have a couple more players that will probably commit before NSD which leaves us with 1 open spot. Now I guess we could ask a few to grey shirt or walk on but it seems that Nutt isn't expecting to pick up snoop, pj, Tobias, and defiantly not whitehead or he wouldn't have given our few empty scholarships to some juco DBs that no one else wanted

No. We've only signed 5. 4 Jucos and 1 early HS grad.
We can sign 28 come Feb and we will likely ask one or two to GS(one already that I know of, won't say which though) and will also possible sign and place one or two. Not too mention any of them not being able to make their grades.
and FWIW, those juco DB's were necessary for depth and to actually get some speed in our secondary(which hurt us the most this season).

Nutt has really shite the bed this year. Thanks Houston for taking the momentum our program had and completely fricking it up.

I think he meant the three in the OP pank, but I'll add PJ in as well.
Brassell- lives 20 miles from Oxford, has family at OM, and is our big money target. USP is OM's pipeline and for the top player since tig to not sign with OM is just a failure by OM.
Tobias- OM's second biggest pipeline in MS is Madison Central through their coach who is a big OM fan. He was a suspected OM lean, but will go wherever Brassell goes, which at the moment is MSU
Whitehead- states first commitment, but really got close to a lot of players including Moncrief and worthy (OM commitments) and Brassell and Tobias (probably going to state). Because they are all so close and all want to play together it is rumored that if Brassell decides to go to OM they all will follow him which will add 3 more 4stars to OM's commitment list and 6 out of the top 7 players in the state.
PJ- was a strong OM lean this summer and it is rumored that he is now leaning towards state because of their success they are having right now and negative racist recruiting against OM, same rumor for whitehead.

do you think we signed the DB from NY to get his DT teammate pena. I like what I see in Pena and dont see anything of any value with the DB. I wonder if it were a package deal. With the other two DB's atleast one has size and the other has speed. Just curious

Justin Bell seems to be the sign and place guy or atleast someone I'd ask to GS. He looks to be the weakest recruit we have and while Im glad we got him becasue I love getting OL, I dont see him contributing anytime soon. Bell or Artez, due to his lack of size, are my two guesses to not recieve a scholly

It's possible. Ivan had an offer from UNC though so it isn't too bad of a package deal IMHO. There's been a shite ton worse deals.

We lacked a lot of speed in our secondary(part of that was J. Brown and McGee(i think) weren't actually 100% after their offseason surgeries. Pendleton was signed for his speed. The most questionable Juco out of the group IMO is the guy from Natchez. He's a marine so I'm sure his leadership will be a good thing(see: Tony Fein).
Only bad thing about that guy is he's getting screwed out of a year from the NCAA. We/he just found out that the NCAA is, in fact, counting his "first" year of college when he left after just a short period to enlist. I think we were hoping that the NCAA would waive that year considering he was serving our country. So my understanding is that he has this Spring and next season and then that's it.

That is Yancy's understanding too. But I take everything he says with a grain of salt.

well we should be ok in our secondary by next year so thats just another scholly we can give to our '12 transfer QB

I occasionally look at his recruiting stuff.....and I agree. He's pretty much an idiot in everything but his predictions. He has really good sources but his evaluations and overall speaking ability leaves a lot to be desired.

The Marine will not be allowed to transfer to OM if he doesnt get his year back.
