No, she isn't. She's as much a high level official in a foreign government as Ophelia Ford is...she's a state legislator from the Onitsha area of the state of Anambra. Although she's probably way more corrupt than even the Ford family...if that's possible, and although most of Nigeria may be way more of a shithole than even Memphis, Anambra state is sitting on huge oil and gas reserves.

Not to belabor a point but Ophelia Ford managed to get caught soused on camera during a legislative session (think she may have had DUIs too) and yet remained in power and quite powerful. She's from the Ford family - nobody gonna mess with the Ford family on either side of the aisle. They're a large bloc of the old Boss Crump coalition that controlled the state and large enough still to play kingmaker.

TBI even investigated an election she was a candidate in. The filed 37 charges/35 felonies. NONE were filed against Ford.

From 2007-2012 ahe's had so many outbursts and stated so many whacked out opinions that she has to be on drugs -- even alcohol wouldn't account for it. She actually accused TB nurses of being out to get/harm patients and said they were abusing them on a daily basis in awful ways and before then a cabbie accused her of ripping his shirt off which I assume means she attempted to sexually assault him but he didn't have much interest in being that blunt.

Say what you will about Ophelia Ford but she's exceptionally powerful in this state and I guarantee you she's making bank. Just as Ford has old voting blocs the family has maintained Nkemdiche also has voting blocs and that means power -- big time, above the law power. And if what you say is true and she represents an area sitting on huge oil and gas reserves she might as well be the Nigerian Dick Cheney -- outrageous power as she's very likely picking and choosing which international companies get fat contracts and oil rights. Sen. Jesse Helms managed to pull a similar feat. He basically ran a shadow state dept. and was one of the most important Senator of his day when it came to shaping foreign policy.

Some politicians pull all this off by winning friends and earning influence that translates to state/national votes going their way when it comes to big ticket items the public doesn't pay much attention to. others do it by controlling voting blocs, campaign donations/$$$, or controlling which companies get those contracts.

Doesn't much matter which way she's doing it or whether it's legal or the most unethical/illegal stuff ever, however, Ms. Nkemdiche wouldn't be flying back and forth for a low paying unheralded job in Nigeria if she wasn't both powerful and making bank. Her first class plane rides probably cost more than the job is worth. You don't keep that up unless power and money are involved.

Besides all that, some of the strangest titles/chairs wind up being the most important jobs in any given government.
