The Thesis ain't so bad.... once it's over with! It sucked arse but a semester's worth of work and 80-something pages later I had one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment I've ever felt.

Fail. LSU is outside of the top 50 of public schools unlike UA.

LINK
i said harder to get into, not rankings. unless theyve changed in 2 years LSU is harder to get into than Bama. aka you can get into Bama and not LSU.

Fail again. You also said they were peer schools, that was the reason for the link.

theyre viewed as peer schools

its Vandy. UF, UGA....everyone else then ole miss and state. If someone is looking at 2 candidates theyre not going to hire a Bama alum over an LSU one because the 2 schools have the same rep nationally and in the southeast.

I agree except it is Vandy in tier one then UF and then UGA then the rest. When it comes to hiring from the rest the only thing that one give a leg up on the other would be the state they were aplying in. An LSU alum might have a sligh leg up in Lake Charles for example.

Honestly, for undergrad, it doesn't matter a ton. What really matters is where you got any post graduate degrees from.

ok, we're on the same page then and I agree, the location of the job is important to the statement.

The Honors College (my alma mater, FWIW) is especially well run, being named one of the top public honors programs in the nation and boasting a student body whose average ACT score matches Vanderbilt's.

Depends on the career field. Not all majors or careers require grad school, and some fields heavily weight "prestige" of the undergrad school.

You're probably right. I'm going by my Liberal Arts experience.

I was going to flame the thread, but you seem to be objective and not trash talking so you can just ignore the laughing emoticon.

How the hell are you supposed to defend it then?

Normally you'd count the number of students and multiply it by the percent of minorities and you have your answer.

The average Ole Miss student is a preppy out-of-stater from an upper middle class southern family... if you consider that "snobby" than so be it.

truth.

I am one of them. I am from Baton Rouge and I'm still an LSU fan FWIW.

There is a TON more money here than most other schools. There is a TON OF frickING money at Ole Miss. For example: One of my pledge brothers is the son of the man who started and currently owns Bass Pro Shops. Another one of my pledge brothers is the grandson of one of the creators of J.P. Morgan. These are not anomalies, but rather common. I could keep giving examples. Tons of texas oil money and cotton money.

What's really going on at ole miss is everybody wants to seem like somebody so they stretch the truth way out. We all know the ole miss types. Not saying your bass pro shop guy and Morgan (snicker) guy isn't for real, but many at ole miss put on this facade that isn't close to reality.

I'll rephrase being more specific to what I mean:

more than LSU.

Most of my friends from high school who went to LSU would completely agree with me after spending significant time with me up here.

Rather than looking at admission requirements, a good assessment of freshmen academic quality is the 25%-75% ACT scores. I would say GPA, but that can be slanted by shitty schools.

Just because a school is easy to get into doesn't mean it's a terrible school. I'll end up at Bama, Ole Miss, or Mississippi State, and all of those are pretty easy to get into.
