I noticed his tail. It's a "waver". ...and I'll bet it's up and waving with every step he takes, his nose in the lead.

Just normal separation anxiety. He's learning and building trust in your being there. They usually go through a lot of teething and destruction about now.

He's just learning about you, your expectations, limits/boundaries, and routine, trying to figure out exactly where he's situated within this new equation.

he has done pretty good about not chewing up things. when i leave if i dont put him in the crate i make sure he can get all of his toys. I also started letting him bring sticks in and he chews them up instead of everything else.

Great plan. My dog's 5 years old and still loves her toys. She's got a new favorite from Christmas called a "Kong Wubba". She can't tear it up ...and yes, it squeaks.

he has a nylon rope bone, a tennis ball and then another tennis ball he split in half and has chewed down even smaller.

yea the sticks were an idea i was trying to use as a reward for waking me up and stuff when he needed to use the bathroom. I didn't want to give him treats late at night so figured he would enjoy having a stick to chew on.

Dogs aren't the tough part in training. We are. He'll have you trained in no time.

Sometimes it seems my hound can read my mind. They can acquire this skill (or pseudo-skill) from having studied us so closely over a lengthy period of time.

he also has started waking me up at 7 an 8 in the morning because on school days 7 is his feeding time

Have you spent much time with one of these characters?

With bone headed drive and an unfailing nose, they never quit.

Had a good friend with one several years ago. We did a lot of mountain biking and "Blue" would tag along. I'd say Blue weighed in around 150+ lbs., all muscle and skin. He was a large Bloodhound. Many times, we'd cover ~50 miles over some very rough terrain. It never seemed to faze "Ol' Blue". He'd hang with us every mile and he never complained.

They're great!
