If 13 teams are admitted and 11 fail to advance is that depth or perceived depth? Perceived by the league's fans and the network that is broadcasting the games of the tournament that also just happens to have a big contract with the said league? Agenda?
The teams that have "elevated" the league to be so deep the last 5 years or so need to find a way to do something in tournament play at some point or the reputation is going to take a hit.
Alabama and Florida have been to 7 WCWS since 2019. The other 11 teams combined have been to 2.
WCWS Appearances since 2019 (last 5 WCWS)
Alabama (4)
Florida (3)
Georgia (1)
Tennessee (1)
Arkansas (0)
Auburn (0)
Kentucky (0)
LSU (0)
Ole Miss (0)
Mississippi State (0)
Missouri (0)
South Carolina (0)
Texas A&M (0)
Oklahoma (5)
Texas (2)
Other teams in the league have to start winning more in the postseason. Of course, that will be less relevant when you add Oklahoma/Texas.
