I think a lot of people forget that Russell was in the doghouse with Saban before he left. He had Marcus Randall starting over him.

Russell was able to get by on athletic talent and really had a great jr year at LSU.

After that he got fat, lazy and that was back in the day when the first pick got a huge guaranteed deal. It was later on when NFL changed the rules about draft pick compensation with a new cba.

I do think the disaster Oakland was at the time didn't do him any favors but he has no one to blame but himself.

JR was the reason the cap was put on rookie QBs and because of that monetary cap... he will always be the top or in the top 2 for the biggest NFL bust. Although, I think Johnny "John" Manziel is a bigger bust as well as Ryan Leaf.

JR would have been huge, had he been drafted somewhere that would allow him to learn the NFL.
