Maybe, maybe not. Substitute FSU for Bama, and maybe those are the “right” 4 teams. The outcome wouldn’t have changed, but my point stands.
It’s a yearly circle jerk selection with ever changing rules. Some years, conference title games matter, some years they don’t. Sometimes SOS matters, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the focus is on quality wins, sometimes it’s bad losses.
