It took Pel 5 years at South Al until he really started winning big and I think he would have done the same at Arkansas eventually, especially the way he was recruiting, but admins in the SEC don't have the patience of those in smaller conferences, understandably so.

I admit he didn't really get enough time,
*4 years as head coach
*First year was by far his best, then downhill
*Worst conference season EVER in Arkansas history under his watch
*Couldn't break 20 wins in his final, 20-season-win-guaranteed giftwrapped season
*Ridiculous attrition rate, leaving us with APR problems
he definitely had enough time. he just used it to prove he wasn't a good coach.

Pelphrey coaching the hogs was like some a-hole dating your sister. Every time he brought her home with a black eye you just wanted to beat the living shite out of him. Every time I watched a hog game I wanted to drive to Fayetteville and drag him from his home and beat the frick out of him in his front yard.
frick Pelphrey and frick you Hawgalude for reminding me of that retarded fricker.

who are these influx of idiotic shitheads that keep coming to this board? Get your arses back to hog-ville were you belong. I have been here among the longest of hog fans and have a good pulse of what is going on. Some might say I am lucky but several smug posters have sig quoted me only to get bitten by it. Say what you will but I have talked more shite than any hog fan here and the mods must thing it is funny/ amusing cause they have never banned me for any period of time. If you have less than a year join date and/ or less than 500 posts, shut your trap and learn some things or get gone quick.

You're going to have to explain how this has any bearing whatsoever on the validity of a poster's opinion. If someone don't feel the need to post in a lot of threads here, he's wrong? I have seen some incredible dumbassery from some pretty high post count folks. Did it ever occur to you that maybe an idiot is not smart enough NOT to post in a thread?
Pel was a disaster in a long line of disasters for Arkansas. Not everything that was/is wrong with the basketball program was his fault. Some of it though, undoubtedly was.
Rotnei was a bit of a bitch, who I believe threatened to quit the team every year he was here. Finally, Anderson comes in with a style of play that would make a shooter like Rotnei an absolute monster, and he quits the team. Good riddance, to him and Pel.

I will say it now, what they did to coach Pel was not right. If given one more year to bring his players in he would have been successful.
You gotta be shitting me.

Jeff long is a douche and listened to the wrong people in making a go back decision.
What? Long told Pelphrey what he had to do to keep his job, and he didn't fulfill those demands.

Good Luck at Butler Rotnei, you are a class act.
:notsureifserious: He was told to wait, and he didn't like it, so he went and cried to the national media.

buh bye Rotnei......see ya.....don't ever comeback

It's hilarious how this place is obsessed with post count and join date.

and now he is at Butler, News flash, if Arkansas even makes the NCAA tournament and has to play Butler at any point then Arkansas is watching the tournament at home afterwards. He could name his ticket and did. You all can call him every name that you want to and say what all you want to but he would still be here if Pel was the coach.
I think Rot knows how MA was given the job at the UA and thought it was not right, period. Sometime during dinner meetings with old Nolan players they but the bug into Long's hear about MA. That is all it took.

Sorry, he never won big at South Alabama. He only had one season where he finished with less than 13 losses.

You serious?
Over the 4 years he was here this is what he recruited.
2007
Marcus Britt - Played all 4 years, was nothing more than a mediocre player
Nate Rakestraw - Transfered somewhere after 1 season
Michael Sanchez - Always injured
2008
Courtney Fortson - Left after 2 seasons, was suspended for half of So year
Jason Henry - Suspended 3 times his Fr year, and left team
Andre Clark - Left team after 1 season
Brandon Moore - Left team after 1 season
Montrell McDonals - Left team after 1 season
Rotnei Clarke - Transferred after 3 seasons at Arkasnas
2009
Jamel Farmer - JUCO player who never amounted to anything
Anthony Borden - Never made it to campus
Julysses Nobles - Contributed his first two seasons
Marshawn Powell - Great Freshman season, he had Pel butted heads his So season
Glenn Bryant - Great jumping ability, and .........
2010
Mardracus Wade - Good defensive player, no offensive game
Rickey Scott - Good player who was injured alot
Marvell Waithe - Has a awful looking shot, and is too big of a puss to play inside.

Who gives a shite? Clarke was the main poison in the locker room for the past 4 years. No players parents should have the upper hand in their kid playing minutes, and his did.

Yeah, because Pelphrey was a pussy and gave into Rotnei and Conley's demands.

You're showing your lack of knowledge that went on during the situation. Long was not forced to persuaded to do anything.

HawgAlude, I didn't listen to the show, so I don't know what was said but I will say this:
If RC did badmouth anyone about anything to any media, concerning our program, that pretty much says all I need to know about RC. Did he say this crap?
I really hope he didn't do that. Are you just guessing what happened?

Rotnei and Pel have been here for the last three years. What did that get us? I guess we could have been even shittier, but not by much. I don't know how old you are, but watching Arkansas get outcoached damn near every game was too much to take for someone from the Eddie Sutton/Nolan Richardson era. I am not the only Hog fan who was ignoring basketball.

Pel couldn't win the SEC with the Mavericks. You can't average 11,000 fans in an 18,000 seat arena.

I could have drawn conclusions but it did not take much to hear A & B and then get to C. He said he thought really hard about it in between classes and such and that he came to the decision during school the week after Pel was fired. If you want to attack his parents then so be it. Some people are close to their parents and have good relationships with them when making life decisions. I know I have helped my parents with stuff and they have helped me. That is what family does.
He did not bad mouth anyone in the program but you could tell something changed that he did not want to be a part of. You all can hate him for all it is worth, still does not change the fact that he is a quality basketball player.
Pel reached out to former players to help get them re-involved in the program. These former players dropped MAs name to Long, FACT. Overall, MA will not be able to do what Nolan did. Those recruiting avenues and juco roads do not work like they use too. I hope MA can get it done but I have my doubts.
