Harbaugh revived the 49ers in the weakest division in NFL history. Nick Saban had to take over an average Dolphin team in the most difficult era of AFC history. No comparison.

Tons of coaches have taken crap teams and made them competitive. Few coaches have taken decent teams and made them relevant.

So a one loss year and a blowout win in the Orange bowl doesn't count as making a team relevant? Shaw is a good coach and building on what Harbaugh did in 4 freaking years but Shaw is NOT Harbaugh. You put Shaw in Harbaugh's position in 07 and Stanford is still irrelevant.

Btw, I am not shitting on Harbaugh. I love the guy and what he has done in San Fran. And if the Falcons can't make the SB, I hope the niners take it all.

As one of the very few who has actually had both JH and NS coach their team I think it's very very close. I would go with JH by a hair though.

I respect this. The original subject is ridiculous. A seasoned team coach by Nick Saban that has bought in versus a seasoned team coach by Jim Harbaugh that has bought in would be a god damn war.

What DOES Coach Harbaugh eat for breakfast? Serious question.

Yeah it's an unfair question. I'd rather have Saban if my college team is 3-9 and looking for a new coach. Harbaugh though is clearly the better NFL coach. I think if you plugged JH in at Bama right now you wouldn't miss a beat but as a 49er fan no way in hell do I trade JH for Saban and that's the difference for me.

Saban's QB's were who? A post-knee op Daunte Caulpepper, Joey Harrington, and Cleo Lemon? Am I forgetting anyone?

Morons.

I'll just assume you've never seen any of those three guys play, then. Otherwise, you woudln't be running your mouth. Then again, it says you're an LSU fan, so I guess it's in your DNA.

Did Harbaugh ever even win his conference?

I think he won more than 8 games 1 time.

I think both Harbaugh and Saban walked into promising situations. Harbaugh given the young talent and struggling origination's he had to compete with in the NFC west, coupled with a hungry fan base, he got the Niners to buy in quickly and took control. Saban given a powerful/lucrative program, also with a hungry fan base, he gained control and basically did what he wanted and made it look easy.

He did better at Stanford than Saban did at Michigan State which is a pretty equal comparison.
