I pulled for Bama in that one as well. For me, it was because the SEC was going through a drought (at least by SEC standards) and had lost some of its stature. In fact, many people were saying that Bama didn’t belong — that the two best teams were Florida St and Miami and that only a rematch between those two would determine the best team in the nation. I wanted Bama to win so that the SEC would be respected more.
ETA Sorry, I misread your question. I was answering why I only pulled for Bama in that one championship game.

Sorry I should have been more specific, I meant the 2018 season. I assumed that if you pulled for Clemson during the 2016 season it would be the same during 2018.
