Take it up with whoever said that. I think they are better than "LMAO, Duke", but I'd guess they're a little above median in terms of FBS team quality.

They are 49th in the Sagarin ratings (first and only computer poll I checked). Like I said, a little above median for FBS.

Here is a couple differences.
LSU scheduled Texas when they were a shitty team. Turns out they still are.
LSU fans started and are still starting threads about beating a shitty Texas team.
Alabama didn't schedule Duke. They filled in for a team that pulled out of the game.
Alabama fans didn't start threads bragging about beating Duke.

You're an idiot. Rankings at the time the game was played mean nothing. 2000 Alabama went 3-8 but was ranked #3 at the beginning of the year. Where a team is ranked at the end is the only true measure of schedule difficulty.
