If there is a fall season, what are expectations for transfer QBs?

I remember Burrow transferred late to LSU and didn't win the the job until August 2018, so LSU had to run a very basic offense for most of the season since the time just wasn't there to implement anything more ambitious. Newman probably won't need to do much in most games considering the talent advantage they'll have in most games, but against Bama and Florida? Miss State probably wouldn't have had big expectations anyway, but after a normal practice schedule for Costello in Leach's offense I think they could've surprised some people.

This is a very valid concern for anyone breaking in a new QB, scheme, and/or coordinator.

Like you point out, I wouldn't be surprised to see more simplistic packages, especially at first.

Yea, with transfer QB's plus the lack of practice due to the Covid scare, I expect some pretty limited and sloppy football this Fall as you say if it even happens.

Running teams will likely do well this year.

Preseason publications expect Newman to have a Heisman type season for some reason.

UGA fans on the other hand are expecting something around Fromm type passing numbers with a few hundred yards rushing.

If we play I expect Costello to push for 4000 yards
