So what if he were using a university-issued phone to call a known heroin dealer? Or to contact a known illicit gambling ring?

Both morally ambiguous activities that some would see as "a business transaction." The point is that he used public property to contact a the number of an agency that provides an allegedly illegal service.

He's a public official, and he should be held accountable.

This is a stance I've seen trotted out in the last 12 hours or so by a lot of people. It's interesting given the conservative sentiment on the board... that said, you may have a different stance if you familiarized yourself with issues regarding human trafficking perpetuated and exacerbated by legal prostitution.

Oh I don't know. I'm assuming prostitution is illegal in Mississippi. I may not agree on it being illegal, we as men are generally paying for sex anyway. You pay for a girls dinner and frick her. How is it diff just giving her the money for dinner and skipping that part of the night?


If anything you get fired for neglegence and stupidity. For doing something you know is illegal, putting you and the company you work for at risk.
