quote:
QB: Decline. fricking Russell is a head case. Could be improvement if dak gets starts
RB: Wash. Perkins is back but nick griffin is hurt again. Most solid corps on team.
WR: Decline. Bumphis is gone. need younger players to step up
TE: Decline. Marcus Green finally graduated after 14 years playing for State.
OL: Improvement. Returning boku starters.
DL: Improvement. Need to develop raw talent, though.
LB: Decline. Losing Cam Lawrence means a loss of a leader, even if he was terrible at times.
DB: Major decline. Lost Banks, Slay, and Broomfield. Returning Nickoe "Hit or miss" Whitley
P/K: Only way to go from the bottom is up, right?
ETA: this is the most homer thread I might have ever seen.
ETA again: This made me realize how bad we are going to be
I agree for the most part...
QB: Wash. (can't wait until this season is over bc we will be much improved at this position for years to come, even if Cord doesn't make it)
RB: Wash. Return 3 solid backs that will hopefully split the load. (although I have a feeling Mullen will ride perk's dick into the ground)
WR: Decline. Lots of holes to fill, but I am optimistic they will be a decent.
*I look for Brandon Holloway to make some noise this year either from the slot or in the backfield, or both*
TE: Slight decline. We lose Green, but Johnson is a beast and the three other guys looked good this spring. Should still be solid.
OL: Improved. Return pretty much everyone. However, we will need to see a LOT of improvement if we are going to win in the SEC
DE: Improved. I expect Autry to have a standout year, and Smith/Brown will be good in their own right from the other side. I think Chris Jones will provide some burst and should see steady PT by mid year.
DT: Improved (I think). PJ looked solid as did Eulls. If James and Evans can get their heads right this could be a very solid group.
LB: slight decline. Losing Cam hurts, but we will be quicker and more athletic overall
DB: Decline. For me this is the biggest question of the offseason. Cox has a chance to be really good, but he has never played a snap in the SEC. All the guys that play will be very talented, but they have a steep learning curve and will get thrown into the fire the first game of the season. Hopefully OKSU doesn't torch us like I think they might.
K/P/ST: Improved
Overall, I think we will be better than we were a year ago, especially as the season progresses and the young guys get experience, but I think 6-6 would be a good season considering our schedule.
