How many times has Bama changed college football history?

With the bcs talks of changing its system I can't help but reflect on a few things. The 1970's integration of blacks in southern football. The play that changed college football. Hell we should get more thanks for being the biggest contributor in making the SEC what it is today, that being a direct or indirect.

Zero would be my guess. Integrating blacks into the south was more a byproduct of USC whipping their arse.
And do you think the BCS is changing its system because of Alabama?

That 1970 game against USC is so overblown as far as integration is concerned. Alabama had already started recruiting black athletes by that point in time.

You have to start with the 1926 Rose Bowl. We legitimized southern football with that game.

I thought this was going to be about Bama's 37 national titles.

The AP changed from naming their champion before the bowls to naming it afterwards because of the way we won the championship in 1964.
The coaches poll did the same thing after we won in 1973 then lost the bowl game.
Maybe the 2011 championship will lead to a playoff or plus one.

This. People lined up along the train stations as far west as Texas and cheered the team as they traveled back to Alabama. Everyone thought southern football was a joke before that game.

We had a black player on the roster at that time but Coach Bryant arranged for that game so that he could recruit more black players. He knew what would happen.

How many do you have? We don't claim as many as the NCAA gives us.

Lucky for us. We won the NC the next year because they changed.

The Rose Bowl teams led to Bowl Alliances to keep us out.
According to everyone around here Bryant only won because there were no scholorship limits so I guess you can chalk that up to BAMA as well. Of course they discount the fact that all of those "extra" players would rather sit on our bench than start for them.

That would be hard since the NCAA gives you the same amount of points we scored on monday.

Well... that's one interpretation. The other is that limits on number of recruits had to be instituted b/c Bear Bryant cheated in recruiting, and also recruited more players than he could play, to deprive other schools of players. Bear Bryant was the JR Ewing of college football, ruthless.
Regardless, does the fact Alabama historically has had a good football program personally made your life any better? What exactly did YOU do personally do to contribute to Alabama's football success?
