Bama Doug I understand that you're saying. I agree with the other guys comment cuz when you think about what Prothro's been through it just kinda makes you think of it with a different perspective.

Yes, people would be talking about him if it weren't for the S. Miss catch because guess what...people were talking about the big plays he was making before that catch. He was making unbelievable plays after that catch. If you could watch the Bama-Florida game that he broke his leg in, you'd see how good the guy was.

i actually watched that game. it hurt me to watch.
. Im not meaning to bash prothro. He seemed like a great guy and had a ton of heart and would love to have players like that on my team...kinda like a hester. Doesnt have the best talents but damn it they are playing strong for the team. I just hate the whole what if questions and love to give bama fans tough times

Maybe it was a bad choice of words to begin with! I'll admit that! Imagine another year and a half of these high lights!

I'm just saying we all missed out on how good this dude would have been. His injury broke my heart and I still think about him to this day!

he was good...it a shame when any young man gets injured...career ending even before his career had a chance...

That dude(Prothro)could catch anything within 10 yards.Could of been great return guy in the pros."The Catch"has to be one of the top 5 in college football.

Way to take my words out of context! I wish I never even brought it up! I was just trying to pay homage to what I thought was one of the best players in the SEC i the last 5 years.
OK, here goes.
If Tyrone stays healthy, we still have Shula.
When Mile$ was flirting with UM, Sexton would have been shopping Saban with LSU.
If Prothro doesn't break his leg, Saban would be the head coach at BR today.
Something to think about...

Well, first of all, I hate it that his college career ended the way it did.Very proud of him that he got his degree last spring. He could have hung his head and gotten into trouble.
May have been All-American,but if you are asking about NFL,doubtful. Guy was just too small.

I think the only way Shula is still with Bama is if he had landed Tebow. Prothro was good, but he was not that big of a difference maker.

quote:Absolutely crazy post. Bama's offense before Pro went down was averaging in the high 30's and had not had a close game. After he went down, we had no playmaker, averaged around 10 points a game, and relied soley on the defense. Pro doesn't get injured, there is avery good possibility we beat LSU or AU that year. Again, if's and but's and what if's are just that, but to say he wasn't a difference maker is just dumb.

I didn't say he made no difference, just not a huge difference. However, you're OL also got worse and worse as the season progressed. I'm sure Brodie could attest to that being a big reason for the drop in productivity.

quote:Ehh, I don't know. The AU game was definitely crazy, but that didn't happen during any other game the entire year. They seemed fine the previous week against LSU's crazy d. Pro was the playmaker on the team, and his loss made the biggest difference on that offense. We will just have to agree to disagree about it, but I guarantee you that any team in the sec, would take a healthy Pro right now.

Oh, we would definitely take him at State. We haven't had a really good WR since Eric Moulds.
