Not if you understand a senior 3 star is probably often better than a freshman 5 star, a covid senior even more so. Especially if they fit your scheme.
I think it also highlights that a player who is ready to put in the work all season with less talent is likely more valuable than a talented player making money and not putting in the work. I talk all the time about the difference between a talented player and an elite player. Or that Alabama would in the past have 3 stars that could hang in the NFL for a short period of time just based on the work they had put in.
That is what is missing from the NIL era, development and the will to get better, and that is why Saban retired.
So I think it's honestly kind of awesome what Indiana is doing. They look old school tough because they are old school tough.
What else is it supposed to mean?

Yall are more experienced than freshman level. Yall returned 14 starters between O and D

You mean a bunch of people who don't fit the scheme. Go ahead and look at who our best players were - lower ranking recruits from Washington.
Cuevas, TE - wasn't even rated out of HS, rated 3 star as a transfer.
Brailsford, Center - 3 star out of HS, 4 star as a transfer.
Bernard - 4 star HS and transfer.
And the QB who had the scoring drive yesterday is 4 star.
All those guys came from Washington, and despite being lower ranked they were our better players because they fit scheme.

Coaches cannot add at a higher clip than 3 or 4 players in two cycles? Like I tell my 10U basketball team if you dont know what you are doing copy someone that does. Cignetti knows how to draw players that fit.

This season can be laid directly at the feet of the coaches. That’s probably not quite as bad as thing as you seem to think it is.

We had other transfers too, those were just lower rated ones that followed him.

Sorry Bama brethren, he inherited more talent than what was on the Indiana team that drummed us 38-3 and thats not even debatable. His coaching and team preparation is average at best. Cignetti LITERALLY took a team not even half the talent and is one game away from a NC. Lack of talent is a BS excuse for the real problem

The difference is, Alabama was the #9 team losing to the #1 team, not the #2 team losing to the #10 team.
Did you forget OSU lost 13-10 to Indiana in a game that went to final 2 mins? ... Also in Indiana.
Face it, Bama is old news.

Roster management is just one of the many aspects of coaching.
I thought it was unfair that the announcers talked like Cignetti was too smart to be out coached by Deboer, but it was clear they weren't even in the same zip code.

Well, to start they played in the Big10 championship game, and Ohio St was ranked #2 after that game, not #9 or #10.
Alabama was the underdog, Ohio St was expected to win by more than a TD against Miami.

Well that's a start...But if yall have players that dont fit I dont see why your coach keeps them around. That's a waste of resources.

He's only had a single recruiting class that has seen the field. But I hope he does grab some good seniors from the portal.

Hate to burst your bubble but I am the easiest person on this forum to troll because I straight up do not give a shite why you say stupid things.

We are including transfers so I think you are lying. Isiah Horton did not come in with Bernard.

He's been at Alabama 2 years. The first class was already signed by Saban, except for all the transfers that left, which was like 30. DeBoer had time to get incoming transfers only and that is where the Washington transfers I mentioned came from.
Horton came in from last years class.

So Deboer had plenty of opportunity..

I do wonder about that. And I saw it again yesterday. A lot of "gap shooting" by Indiana with slow line play by 'Bama. That Proctor kid ? He's got zero chance at anything in the NFL. He's too slow.
But that scheme 'Bama runs gave him no chance either. I do wonder, I've said it on other threads. Has Cignetti been the first guy to rewind the clock ? Make line play simpler on both sides ? Because it sure looks like hat-on-hat on his O-Line ... no zone scheme ... and Old School "read all you want while we're all in the backfield" to me.

Yep, if the coach can't get it done in 1.5 years, he outta just give up.
And after 6 in a row, maybe Auburn should just give up.

We can't have all this rational talk here. Enough of that.
I do suspect that the Cignetti Secret Sauce is just rolling the clock back a bit. Hell - at this rate maybe we'll see a fullback. Maybe Offset I.
And it makes sense to me at least. Instead of this idea of one play call that is perfect in all situations ? Just run a play hard and see what happens.
A lot of College Football to me seems like all my time in the Automotive Industry. Just more and more complication and a great big fan dance to act like The Manager is always right. No matter the results.
