Does this game kickoff on time?

Or is this one of those where they start broadcasting at 8 and kickoff 30 minutes later?

They never start on time. My guess is 8:00 is when the official pregame stuff starts. Kickoff probably won't be until 8:20 or 8:30.

How it will probably end up going:
8:00- extra 15 minutes of Championship Drive
(commercial break)
8:20 Pregame show
8:25- Nissan Heisman house (commercial break)
8:35- Nissan pregame rush
8:50- Teams run out
(commercial break)
8:55- Another stupid ESPN hype video
9:00- More discussion
9:05- Kickoff
ESPN takes too much pride in their pregame
